Hello,

I recently adding imported a list of contacts.  I had a lot of duplicates (that were already in my contact list, some with different information), assuming that Outlook would be smart enough to merge them.  Instead, Outlook just linked them.  Now I have dozens of contacts with duplicate information.  It's a complete mess!

Is there no way to completely merge duplicate contacts?  The linking system is great for separate services... but completely pointless when they're all Outlook contacts!

Please tell me there is some way to merge!

Thanks
Hi,

I am having problems with my Windows 8 Phone (HTC 8X) and Outlook.com. There are like 7 to 10 duplicate entries in Calendar and Contacts. I had this problem before and I solved it just deleting the duplicates. The problem is back. I can't do this every time. There is definitely a bug in Windows 8 Phone or Outlook.com. Can somebody help to fix this problem?

Thank you,

Is anyone else having this problem? I have window 8 and when I'm responding using the messenger (app) it always duplicates my messages. Why is that? Does anyone know how I can prevent it, it's so irritating!
I'm getting previously read emails downloaded into Outlook. The last was 653 previously read emails so now I have 653 duplicates. What's up? How do I stop this?
I agree with others that managing Contacts is very poor in Microsoft products.
An address book is one of the most important elements yet should be the simplest to manage.
I have ended up with duplicates, triplicates etc and retrieved email addresses and the "3 at a time" merging is a nightmare.

I exported contacts as a csv to Excel and with a few formulae combined or deleted them quickly and easily.

Now, can I empty my Contacts and import this CSV?
I cannot see where to delete all contacts. There must be a way to do this surely?!

Anyone any ideas?
Cheers

Unfortunately, in copying a contact file from my primary PC to a backup, I used a new file name (simply changing the date). Unfortunately, where I had 400+ contacts in the back-up to start, I now have 800+. Instead of replacing the old contact file when I imported an updated one, it added the 2nd contact file..............creating 400 duplicates. Any suggestions for an easy way to eliminate the duplicates? The "clean up contacts" button remains grey in color, and will not respond to a click.

A second question is -Can I go into the software and delete the 2nd file I imported? Let's say file #1 was named "backup10-11-12"  and the second file was "backup10-15-2". Can I delete the latter to eliminate the duplicates?

[This was posted on old thread from 2011.]

Hi Diane!
Every time I click on that Barry's AppleScripts link I end up at a webpage that says it's "closed" and provides a link to icloud.
So I tried the link from your website (where it talks about the word Script having been capitalized) but that link took me to the same "closed" page.
I also tried ODIR but after I tried and tried to make it work I emailed them and apparently ODIR is not capable of removing duplicates from Outlook 2011 for Mac at this time.
[I'm still struggling with the crash and trying to find lost emails and whatnot that you're helping me with in another thread and I'm hoping that as I'm doing that I can delete duplicates.] :)
Is there something "out there" that I can use?  I'm not at all knowledgeable about exchange accounts and whatnot so I'm looking for something that I can basically click a button to tell it to run and it deletes the duplicates.
Thank you again so much for your help!
Diane

I'm not aware of any utility to remove duplicates. Did you try the script here?

Dear Everyone.

I use only Mac software, apart from Blackberry Desktop software, which gave no problems.  Recently I purchase Microsoft Office 2011, only Excel, Word and Powerpoint, however Outlook was installed but not activated.  Very soon I noticed duplicates in my Address book and subsequently on my Iphone.  This also appeared on my Blackberry when I next synced it.  I want to follow your procedure to clear all duplicates, however since I never activated Outlook (One has to pay extra to Microsoft), I cannot turn off SyncServicesAgent.  (I cannot stop it in the Activity Monitor, it simply starts up again after a few seconds).  I do not ever plan to use Outlook, it caused same problems before and I was forever deleting duplicates, hence me using Mac programmes such as Mail only, with no problems any more.  How do I get rid of Outlook?  I also noticed my Microsoft User Data, especiall 2011 Identities, is over 50gig large!!  Why is it so and can you tell me if I can delete this?  Please help!!  What is wrong with all the Microsoft Engineers out there????

Outlook is syncing old mails and creating duplicates showing them in inbox as if they arrived today. This has happen twice now, today it rr synchronised  2000 old emails and showed them as received with todays date. Is this know bug, how can I resolve?
I've removed duplicates from my contact list at least three times but when I opened it again a few moments ago the contacts had again been duplicated. What have I done to cause this?
