my account name shows different name?

19. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: livemail · Tags: account name, account settings, display name, Ivana Ristic
Hi guys,

In my account settings, display name is set up as Ivana Ristic, however whenever I'm sending emails or my contacts try to send me an email the name displayed is someone else's, it goes under Marija Markovic.

How do I change this, giving the fact everything has been set up properly on my side.

Please help, this is driving me insane, I'm even considering closing the account because of this error.

Looking forward to your reply.

Many thanks,
Ivana Ristic

I have a Sympatico account (aka Outlook.com) that does not stay connected.

I have a Blackberry Q10 and I have the following problem on a repeated basis.  I continually have to go into the Account Settings of my Blackberry Q10 to re-enter my Sympatico/Outlook.com password.

It used to happen quite frequently when I had the Wi-Fi turned on.  Turned off Wi-Fi and now it happens a minimum of once every other day, though never at the same time.

Thus I never know when it I am connected and receiving emails unless I check the Q10 and see the notice that my Sympatico/Outlook.com email account is not responding.  To which I then go into the Account Settings of the Q10 and re-enter my Sympatico/Outlook.com password.

This is getting very frustrating as we also have an iPhone in the house that is also connected to an additional Sympatico/Outlook.com email address and this problem does not occur.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Can send but not receive email with custom domain name

12. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account settings, custom domain name
I've set up an email account with a custom domain name. I can send emails from this account, but can not receive emails even if sent from this account to itself. The sent email does not bounce back with an error message either, which makes it difficult to isolate the problem. I've checked all my account settings in outlook according to the suggestions in some other posts in this forum. Any ideas?

Thank you!

and NOT here either:

account settings > overview > account aliases
https://account.live.com/names/Manage

I have a US Microsoft Account, but I recently went to France and now it shows me having a FR account as well. Is there a way to remove this ?. This is shown in the billing of account settings. It also is annoying because im not in France anymore and it shows the FR one first when going to billing. I have no interest in having this on there. Please let me know if there is something that can be done.

issues with outlook 2013 and manually inputting POP3 account- error message

06. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account settings, error message, incoming mail server

The Error message is:

"Log into incoming mail server POP3. Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded ERR invalid user word and password."

I have been using the same e-mail accounts with same passwords for my company e-mail accounts for a long time. In various office computers with Outlook 2010 and older, etc. Why does it not work in 2013? The operating system is Windows 8. Also in the earlier versions- in the manual set-up there was a section called "Connection": That is not in 2013. Please advise! Thank you!

Note: I can send but not receive e-mail on either of these accounts

When I try to look at my account settings I get a blank page.  I was wondering why that happened and if it can be fixed.

No option to create app passwords in my security options?

01. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account settings, Google Authenticator, security info, security options
Hi there, I have set up two-factor authentication and added my live.com account to Google Authenticator without any problems. However, I cannot get any of my iPad apps to access SkyDrive now! When I looked up this problem, I read:

  • "1. Go to your Account settings (via Outlook, Skydrive, etc) in your browser
  • 2. Click on Security info on the left side panel
  • 3. Under the App passwords section, click Create new app password
  • 4. Follow the instructions as listed"

However, when I go to my account settings and security info, I cannot find any section marked APP PASSWORDS. Can someone please solve this mystery for me? Thanks! Best, Arthur

help with a Hacked Hotmail account please

Hi, I would appreciate some help here thanks. My hotmail account was hacked into some months ago and I was finally able to retrieve it two days ago . I changed the account settings and logged out but when I went to log back in minutes later, the account had already been taken over again by the original hacker. I tried again today, same thing, I managed to take back my account but whilst I was changing my details, my account was getting taken over again whilst I was still logged into it. How is that remotely possible. All my banking details, my paypal were hacked into and all the details of my passport were stolen. How do I get my account back and stop whoever or whatever it is that is controlling my email within minutes of my retrieving it. I really need some help here please.

how to close a microsoft account

26. July 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account settings, microsoft, Microsoft account, Microsoft points
My accounts been hacked and I need to close it now. Whenever I try to close it via account settings I get a very unhelpful message telling me the following:

You need to cancel any paid services or Microsoft Points account associated with your Microsoft account.

Guess what? I don't have any paid services or Microsoft Points so please, please, please can someone help me close this account forever?

Is there anyway Microsoft can make closing an account an easier, less stressful process too?
