Hotmail has crashed email on android.

I had it set up and it worked fine. Gmail and yahoo work fine, so it's not the phone. Inbox stopped showing new mail. removed account and tried to add it again."can't connect to server". I set this up for the MOST important mail and I'm screwed now.) 
Later-exactly followed instructions for re-set up that I found in this forum. Now phone has shown a spinning wheel and message "Waiting for sync-your email will appear soon"- for 18 hours.
   so I can't use yahoo OR hotmail now.
 Gmail works as it is a seperate app, I believe.
