I have had a windows phone from the moment it came out. I have never had any problems until a couple of weeks ago. Then I came here to this forum and see that reams of people are reporting similar (and even more unsettling) problems syncing with live.com or equivalent Microsoft account. Information that should be syncing is mysteriously disappearing and (sometimes) reappearing.

I just upgraded to a new windows phone (from windows 7 phone to windows 8), but I am seriously considering taking it back this week and moving to the iphone if I don't find out that Microsoft knows about this problem and is working on it now! Can anyone at Microsoft comment?

Here's my experience over the last couple of weeks:

My windows 7.5 phone all of sudden stopped syncing contacts...one day they just disappeared from my phone. I knew I had done nothing on my end to cause it to happen...I had not changed or added any contacts or updates for months. I had not changed or done anything to my live.com account, either. So I searched this forum and posted a couple of requests here. However, I did not have the time or energy to jump through all the hoops suggested to "fix" a problem I knew did not originate on my end. However, I did begin the process of getting everything else off my phone so that if I had to do a reset, I wouldn't lose anything important. After doing all that, I figured I might as well upgrade now while everything is off my phone and start new...I was sure the new phone would work fine when I set it up. The very day that my new windows 8 phone arrived in the mail, my contacts on my windows 7 phone mysteriously reappeared ! I am not kidding.  Nonetheless, I decided to keep the windows 8 phone and move forward. I followed all instructions, and even called to be sure I was doing it properly. New phone---again, NO Contacts, but everything else synced. I tried a reset, no luck. checked that I could still see my contacts in the "people" tab when signed into live.com online ..and yes they are there, just no contacts. That was two days ago.

Over the last two days, I have frequently checked my phone to see if contacts appear. Nothing, until about 5 minutes ago (while I was writing this, I checked again). And guess what? About 9 random contacts just showed up on my phone! ...out of almost 200 that should be there. Why now? and why only 9...I can find no pattern. And again, I did nothing to try to make them reappear. What is going on?  I am losing confidence quickly. Obviously, anyone in Customer Service who is reading this knows that a customer like me who takes the time to type all this WANTS to stay a customer. But I need a logical explanation, or I am leaving for the stupid iphone, which at least seems to be working properly! I need to be able to count on my information  being on my phone when I need it. AND I don't have time to do this again,. I have wasted so much of my valuable time trying to figure this out.

HELP!

Hello,

Can I just save files to my pc and not to Skydrive?

Thanks in advance for responding.

Trying to open an account for my child.  When I get to the point to verify her account by verifying that I am an adult I get an error every time.  This has been happening for a week now.

I get this message every time and the help response has not been helpful at all. Very frustrating experience especially that it is our first windows phone.

I have been trying to access my hotmail/outlook account after forgetting my password.  It always gives me the questionnaire page to answer in order to regain access.  This was not my main email account.  I use it primarily to register on websites, internet shopping, etc.  Nevertheless this means that I do not send any emails from it.  So, I can not enter anything in the questions regarding recently sent email addresses or recent subject lines.  Sicne I can't answer these questions, it always tells me that I have not provided enough information in order to regain access.  Is there any other way to regain access to that email account?
Hello,
I am writing on behalf of my friend who's had his Hotmail/Outlook account hacked, and I would like to ask if there is anyone who might help us with that. The person who's hacked his account is now sending illicit emails asking people to send him money (which is a fraudulent activity) for hospital treatments (my friend is not or has anyone hospitalized), and is signing them in my friend's name, which I'm pretty sure is defined as identity theft. The hacker has changed all means for account recovery (alternative email address and cell phone number have been changed). In addition to not being able to access his account, which as you know is quite an annoyance, he now has to constantly warn people not to fall for the hacker's fraud.

So far, the methods we have tried to regain the account back didn't get us anywhere. We are in contact with the guys that run Outlook.com page on Facebook, and they have provided us with steps we could try. Coming here is the latest attempt.

So, before any answers are given, let me explain what we have tried and what the results were.

Password Recovery
For the past week, both him and I have been trying this method to recover his account, but the automated system couldn't determine the account ownership based on the information provided. The account is old, and like many people, he has forgotten his answer to the security question. In addition, I would say he has a low sense of security, so his password was really weak.

SMS Verification
Unfortunately, this one assumes that you have access to the account, which he doesn't.

Support Form Submit
Guys at the Outlook.com Facebook page gave us a link to the form where we could submit a ticket. Support number is SRX1211715710ID, but I have to mention that the account is not blocked. As of now, the account is still active and working, but my friend (and I have tried as well) cannot login into it. Even with the given description in the submitted form, the result is that whoever processed that ticket did not even read what the issue was about, and the response was a genetic copy/paste message, and even the ongoing back and forth messaging that's occurring on that ticket is making us go through all of the processes again and again... none of which work.

I'll just note that it's not happening on one, but 3 different computers, 2 which are located elsewhere and all using different browsers, so that should eliminate router and browser settings causes.
My account has been blocked. I have completed my validation of account form and the alternate e-mail addresses I gave did not receive any e-mails. I cannot login to my account in any way. I have been locked out for over 2 days. Please help!
