after about 5 seconds of logging in windows live messenger freezes up for a couple of minutes and then goes back to normal and then freezes for a few minutes and then goes back to normal and repeats that procuess. I have already uninstalled reinstalled that didnt work.

edit1 one thing I have noticed which sounds stupid but when the at&t advertisment on the windows live messenger screen gets to a certain spot in the adv it freezes but when another adv is on it doesnt freeze up at all.

Edit2  Okay I can say anytime it gets to the at&t ad it freezes up live messenger but when its any other ad it doesnt freeze anything up.  I think its a certain at&t adv that is doing it but its one of those but im not sure i just know it seems to always freeze up on one of the at&t ads

I am able to sign on messenger chat but its frozen I can't click on anyone help

I've rebooted twice.  After the Messenger window comes up, the AT&T stay connected ad starts to load at the bottom of the window and then the Messenger window freezes.  Checking the Resource Monitor, it then proceeds to eat about 1MB a second from then on, suggesting a serious leak in the inline HTML advertisement.

In the time it took to write this post, Messenger has consumed an extra 50MB of memory, - it's now 'using' 460MB and rising.

My messenger is slowing to a stand still when it signs in. It doesn't seem to stop responding, but I can't do anything with it. Ideas?
Just started happening. Starting up messenger works, the login works, changing windows works. I can see received messages and I can see messages I send from my phone. I can also change my status. However, everything else is locked up. I ran the repair program but the problem persisted so I uninstalled, restarted my computer, and reinstalled and yet the problem is still there.

EDIT: Just tried uninstalling 2012 and installing 2011. No go.

I am running Windows Live Messenger 2012 on Windows 7 Pro on a Core i5 2.5 Ghz w/ 8 GB RAM.

Up until today, I've had no problems with WLM.  This morning when I log in, I notice that my CPU is spinning up and that WLM is not responding to any clicks or commands.  When I open Task Manager, I saw that WLM was using 33% + of my CPU and at that time was over 800MB of memory usage.  I ended the process and restarted WLM.  I noticed that for about 3 seconds, I could click within the program and it would respond.  However, very quickly it again became unresponsive.  I checked Task Manager again, and saw that again the CPU is spinning around 33% and that the memory usage is climbing at about 5MB a second.

Can anybody assist with this?

I can sign in, but after that nothing. I cannot click on any names to send a message, I cannot even minimize or close the window. It just seems frozen. It is the same on my Mom's computer with her Messenger. I have even gone so far as to unistall and reinstall. Still having the same problem. Help.
Our offices uses live messenger to communicate. This morning messnger has started freezing up and using 50% system resources. This is really a problem and I hope for a solution very soon.

Thanks,
Ray
Messenger works for 30 or so minutes, then freezes and eats up all my memory running the program. It was fine until today.  This isn't just me, its also happening to other friends of mine who are experiencing the same issue so it doesnt seem like a computer issue on my end. It must be MSN Message program itself as messenger works and connects if I use it through the hotmail webpage

Windows Live Messenger is Freezing.  It will launch but as soon as you go to a contact it freezes.  It will also display Out of Memory at Line 32.  I have already uninstallaed and reinstalled it.  This is happening on multiple pcs.
