Original Titile: Windows Live Mail

Every time I open my Windows Live Mail program it defaults to being "offline" and irrespective of taking action each time to go "online" it will not download any emails.  Can you please tell me what to do to correct this problem.

We are having difficulty transfering email using Win 7 easy transfer.  The old mail was on XP SP3 (Outlook Exp.) The wife transfered the email to a hard drive because we could not do a direct transfer nor a network transfer.  But we don't know what the emails extention is for Outlook Express nor do we know where the Easy Transfer program located them.  HELP
Has anyone ever had an issue with Windows Live, OK it's not a joke, but each time I send out an email, a window opens telling me that "Windows Live Mail" has unexpectedly closed and Window is Restarting anew.  When the open comes up again, the sent mail is listed in the Sent Folder but I'm never sure if it got out since there doesn't seem to have had enough time to do anything.

Needless to say, this is very frustrating.  I've reloaded Windows Live several times but it doesn't seem that it corrects the problem.  Doesn anyone have any ideas what causing this issue and how you were able to correct it, if you did.

Looking forward to some real insights and thanks for all the help.
Mike

why is there no thesaurus in outlook/live mail? You've already taken away a word processor? What is with Microsoft?
While typing an Email I lost my options to change Fonts, Enlarge or Decrease Fonts, Type in Bold, Underline, etc.  How can I get these back?

Introduction: After realizing that Office Outlook performed "poorly" with the "hotmail connector" I uninstalled it and transferred everything related to Hotmail over to Live Mail - that is after i decided to re-try Live Mail again. While Live Mail imported folders, emails and accounts w/settings from Office Outlook virtually flawlessly, it did not import my address book with contacts. To this end I manually exported them from Outlook into a cvs file and then imported that cvs file in Live Mail and an address book filled with contacts was created in Live Mail.

Problem: However, those contacts in the Address Book are not showing up when I create a New Mail Message in Live Mail. With the Live Mail Address Book Open i can see a listing of my contacts. But when I flip over to the blank email message and click the "to" button, the contact list is blank. Clicking around that blank contacts dialog window trying to find a method to select or link the address book is helpful as well. It is though the address book and the contacts are 2 separate sub-programs in Live Mail. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I don't recall why i gave up Live Mail a couple of years ago, but perhaps this is one of the annoying quirks that annoys the **** out of us.

Solution 1 - Incidentally, i don't use messenger so its connection is disable in Live Mail at this time.

Solution 2 - Repair Live mail resulted in no change.

Thanks for any suggestions or solutions (or opinions).

ps: I am impressed that Live Mail works much "MUCH" better for hotmail than Office Outlook.   I almost lost all of my data in Outlook several times, but if it were not for system restore that saved them (and my sanity).

Office Outlook works much better and appears stable now without any connections to Hotmail.

I typed a rather long email to a friend but as I touch type my fingers must have slipped and all I had written disappeared.  I had previously saved it in DRAFT but have not been able to recover it.  Any help appreciated.

Thanks

just set up windows live email but am unable to send or receive emails.  error 0X80004005.  Any suggestions?
I backed up Outlook Express 6 to an external hard drive from my XP SP3 computer. Upgraded it to Windows 7 and installed Windows Live Mail. I've followed all the instructions to import storage folders from OE6 to Windows live mail. It appears to proceed and the imported folder is visible in the WLM storage folder.  There are now 2 of these but both report no items to view. (The backup folder on the external HDD has 19.5 MB saved folder plus the "FOLDERS.DBX") What is going wrong?
