I am having a problem with WLM on a new Dell PC using Win 7 professional. I also have another Dell with the same OS Running WLM that is working fine. When I configured the new WLM account in the new machine, I set the General ,Servers, Security, and Advanced parameters up with the same values as the working machine. Here is my problem:

When I start up WLM in the new machine, I get an error message “The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could not be verified. The certificate’s CN name does not match the passed value. Do you want to continue using this server? (yes or no)” I have to respond “yes” to be able to use the mail.

I spoke with Dell Premium Support who connected to my machine to verify my settings and found nothing wrong. They came to the conclusion that I could not have two PC’s using the same WLM system. Is that true? The only thing I can think of is the possibility I used a different password when entering the account data that was entered in the other machine. In one instance, when I tried different passwords, the working machine stopped working as well. I had to change the passwords in the working machine to get it working again, so they seem to be sensitive to what passwords I use.  My question is this: Do I have to use the same password that I sign on to my AT&T Yahoo account for both email accounts? I am trying to figure out what is going wrong with the failing certificates in the new machine. I am afraid to monkey with the working machine so that both machines become unable to use WLM

I am using Windows Live Mail 2011.

Is it worth to switch to Windows Live Mail 2012?

What are the pros and cons switching?

Thanks

Charles.

I have a laptop and a desktop both running windows 7 home premium and windows live mail 2012. When I am using the e-mail account on either device and delete an e-mail it does not delete it on the other devise. Is it possible to link the two computers so if I delete on one it will do so on the other?

Live mail stopped working over a month ago and I now have 21 failures. After 13 messages, I tried changing my password but that didn't solve the problem. I now have 8 additional message failures. All failures are followed with the following message:

"For security reasons, this email account has been temporarily deactivated. A picture containing letters and numbers will appear when you close this window. To reactivate your account, enter the characters you see in the picture."

This was added to the first failed message:

   Subject: "Screening complaint"

   Server:  smtp prodigy.yahoo.com

  Protocol: SMTP

  Port: 25

  Secure (SSL): No

 Socket Error: 10060

The latest message had this added:

Subject: EEOC website link provided (I am not providing the complete info here)

Server error: 3207

Windows Live Mail Error 0x8DE00006

How do I resolve these issues?

how can i get rid of your delta sever
I have attached a single page document to my email and yet I get a file too large message and the message cannot be sent.  Also, the instructions in the error message say to go to Tools, Accounts, Properties, Advanced to break the message into smaller units.  There is no such route.  If I go under accounts and click Properties, nothing happens.  I should be able to send messages with a single attachment!  Very frustrating.
Hello:

Our small company (<50 email addressees) is using a hosted live.com service (centralrockgym.com).

Most of our employees use web access via their favorite browser -- though some would use Outlook or another client as well.

A question arose recently about how to get eMail 'distribution lists' to be shared under this hosted live.com service.
So far, we've figured out how to create a contact group and how to add members to it.

What we'd really want is a way for all our users to be able to send based on a 'common' (perhaps "public") file/whatever.

For example, 'managers' might contain (A,B,C)  and 'setters' might contain (C,D,E,F); and there may be other employees (G,H).
And given this, we'd like to be able to accomplish (basically) two things:

   (1)  Only A, B, or C could modify some public version of a 'managers' contact-group; but anyone A-H could see it's contents and send a message to 'managers' (without having to re-download, re-load the list each time a message is being sent.)

   (2) Only C could modify some public version of a 'setters' contact-group; but, again A-H could see the contents and send a message to it...

It seems we should be able to do this somehow with a file in a shared section of a SkyDrive -- but we've not figured that out yet.
I've looked around a bit (Google) and can't seem to find current info about this type of feature for the latest (Jan 2014) WLM.

I'm having some start up problems with Live Mail in Windows 8 after my conversion from Outlook Express and Windows XP.  I successfully migrated my contacts and mail folders over to Live Mail, but am having some operational issues with Live Mail at this time, since I've only had Windows 8 and Live Mail for a few days.

How do you automatically send deleted messages to the Delete Folder?  This must be a setup issue, but I can't find any help button in Live Mail to address the operation and features of Live Mail, and the online support is useless. I can move messages into the Delete folder (and I do see those), but they don't go there automatically when I delete them after reviewing them in my Inbox.

Another question is how do you return to the main Live Mail window after going into the Contacts window?  There must be an easy way to do this, but I can't get there unless I close the "Contacts" window and start Live Mail again.

Any help from the forum on either or both of these questions would be greatly appreciated.
I am using Windows Live Mail 2012 in Windows 7 Ultimate. Starting on 1/10/2014 I have suddenly been getting error messages when trying to open some links in emails to various websites. Some are ones I have never ever had problems with before, such as amazon.com, UPS tracking site, USPS tracking site, and others that are sent from contacts. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the WLM 2012 and am still getting the same error. Any suggestions of how to get rid of this error that will not open some links would be very much appreciated. I have WLM on other Win7 machines and there is no problem opening these links. This one machine is the only one that it happens on, and it is my primary work machine, so I really do need to be able to open the links from this machines. I have scanned my machine with my AV and 3 other malware, spyware and TrendMacro's Housecalls for any viri and ****, and they all come back clean. So I don't think it is related to any crud on the machine. Plus, it is only some links that it will not open. And when there is a list of links in one email, it will open some just fine, and others I get the error. Very irritating. I would truly appreciate it if someone can give me some information on this error and how to resolve it. Thank you. :-)
This question asked in windoews live mail but is general accross all windows applications using the ribbon style of menuset.
I am using a keyboard and wish to access the button portion of a split button on a menu ribbon (not the menu part)  i can TAB throughbitems on the ribbon but cannot actually activate the default choice for the split button. Example: I want to forward en email, i TAB through HOME ribbon to Forward splitbutton and activate it but this only opens the split part showing submenu -forward as attachment. How do i activate the actual forward part as both SPACE and ENTER open the splitbutton neither activate the default command.
I do not wish to use  shortcut keys (alt+h rf) for this as there are numerous other split buttons and cannot remeber every shortcut
