After Live Mail decided it wanted to rebuild my email database, all the email messages now have a " or < in front of the TO: or FROM: name, which prevents me from sorting alphabetically and hitting "f" for instance. In this instance there were many thousands of emails affected, so I had to start over and import my Outlook Express emails again.

The 2nd time this happened was only for a few new emails in my inbox and new sent items, so I wouldn't mind manually fixing these one by one.  Is there any way to fix these emails?

When the error happened Live Mail created a copy of the email. In this original email in the message pane is this error message:

Message cannot be found

The contents of this message cannot be found.

Windows Live Mail

The email copy does have the original correct message in the message pane, yet Live Mail altered the FROM: name. It puts " " (quotes) before and after the name and also included the full email address. In other words the original FROM: name was "Anthony"  and the altered FROM: name was

"Anthony" <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>

The problem this creates is if later on I want to sort alphabetically all the emails in my Inbox, it will sort the emails with " "  like "Anthony" in a different spot than the Anthony without quotes.

I can send a single email, and exit the Windows Live Mail program. The next time I try to access the program I only get a small window which says, Windows Live Mail. Below that it says, "Sending email using Comcast (j78b)..." Below that it says "Not Connected". Then there is a green stripe filling a long box. If I click on "Details", below that are two tabs. The one marked "Errors" just displays an empty box. The one marked "Tasks" always shows two entries:

Send 1 message(s) using Comcast (j78b).          Completed

Send 1 message(s) using Comcast (j78b).          Executing

The first entry has a check-mark in front of it.

The second entry has a small triangle in front of it.

That's where it hangs. The only way to "cure" the problem is to reboot, but then it recurs.

This problem just surfaced spontaneously today, after I had restored some email files which got deleted accidentally, using Carbonite.

Please tell me what is going on, and what to do about it. If I reinstall Windows Live Mail, will it wipe out all my email messages? Of course, I'd rather not go that route!

every time i try to download with my lumia 900, it keeps tellin me windows live not available

I am trying to access outlook.com from IE10 on new Win 8 machine.  All tabs flicker and I get this at the sign in screen : "Something went wrong and we can't sign you in right now. Please try again later." This error is 24/7 on this computer.  I can look at my mail on other computers.

I can access it from the start menu (mail) on this computer but can not sign out. There is no menu just the list of emails.  I have other Hotmail and MSN accounts I would like to access.  I bought two of these computers and I do not have this problem on the other one.

This of course happened after the rather surprising switch from Hotmail to Outlook. I suspect the outmail is left over from Hotmail. Any thoughts?
I am trying to get the audio to work on my new HP Pavillion with Windows 8 with my CD from the class I am taking. It is the SUM Program for Medical Transcription. I use a foot pedal to advance the dictation, that seems to be advancing correctly but I can not hear the dictation. The CD seems to load, advance to the transcription that I need but I have no audio. Anyone out there have a clue with this? Thanks. Annie.

When opening Live Mail, window opens with hotmail address of different user and password is demanded of this other user.  How can I get rid of it ?

Is there a way of importing mail folders from my online mail account into windows live mail on my PC?

My old Dell 1555 died, I saved the hard drive and now have it as a USB external drive. I am setting up my new Dell 5530 and need to transfer my Windows Live Mail - CONTACT list from old to new laptop (both Win7/64 home).  The old computer died before I could "export" Contact list. Please Help!"
