I just got a new hard drive and am reinstalling everything. I had Windows Live Mail 2011 but now have WLM 2012.

One of my e-mail addresses is a shared account with my husband. It is set up as a POP account. Before reinstalling it worked fine; we both had "Leave a copy of messages on server" checked in the Advanced tab, and it would download all the messages to each of our Windows Live Mail programs on two different computers, and to mail on an iPad as well.

Now that I have reinstalled, whenever a message downloads to my computer (running Windows Live Mail 2012), it does not download to my husband's computer, even though it is still on the server. The same is true if it downloads to his computer first (running Windows Mail). BOTH OF US HAVE "LEAVE A COPY OF MESSAGES ON SERVER" CHECKED. Since everything ran fine until I reinstalled WLM 2012, I have to assume the problem is with that.

The e-mail account is on GMail, and it is set up for POP (nothing has changed there since the reinstall).

Does anyone know how to fix things so that each of us can read all of the messages on the two different computers? Thanks.

I have several groups set up in WLM (I use Windows 7). The sizes range from 6 to over 70. Until very recently I have had no problems sending emails to these groups. However, I have been away for a couple of weeks and since returning have been unable to send to the groups with 70 members. I get  an error message relating to the server of a particular recipient, quoting error message 452.

On researching this it would appear that the recipient whose address in each case is blocking the sending, is number 50 on the list; implying that WLM has put a restriction on the maximum number I can have in a group. I contacted my ISP (BT) who said they had made no changes to their operation, and, anyway, they could only speak about using the web based BT Yahoo. They suggested contacting Microsoft, hence this post.

The only other piece of information I should add, though I don't really think it relevant, is that whilst on holiday I was accessing my emails using a Google Nexus tablet. I then downloaded all my remaining emails and sent items on to my desktop PC once home.

Can anyone help with this, please?

I can open Live Mail, but I get the following (as of this morning):

Unable to send or receive messages for the xxxxx account.

Server Error: 5102
Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x8DE00002

However: I can open the messages in Outlook, which is not my preference. I have been receiving messages to  update my instant messenger  to the  latest version, which I have (Skype 6.6); the "latest version" referred to is 6.3, which Skype properly reminds me is older than what I have. I'm running Windows 8.

To complicate matters even  more,  existing WLM messages are opening in Gmail.

I did a Windows Live Essentials repair, which didn't help.

Other than removing WLM completely and reinstalling it, what can I do?

Thanks.

Running Windows 7 Home Premium.  Two questions in order of importance:

1.  I opened WLM and saw a new email I wanted to read right away.  It was second in the queue.  I deleted the first email and both the first and the second disappeared.  The first email is in my deleted folder.  The second email is nowhere to be found -- not in the Inbox or Deleted Box or Trash or Junk.  I've searched everywhere.  How do I recover it, if possible?

2.  When I download new emails, why does the computer search every single folder in my Inbox and how do I change that?

THANK YOU!

Hello,

I dislike the way, WLM sets the folders tree for the gmail account.

Instead of having of standard structure such as:

Account

=====

>Inbox

>Drafts

>Sent items

>Junk email

>Deleted items

gmail account has structure:

Account

=====

>Inbox

>[Gmail]

>>All Mail

>>Drafts

>>Important

>>Sent Mail

>>Spam

>>Starred

>>Trash

>Personal

>Receipts

>Travel

>Work

I would like to have all those subfolders placed under [Gmail] folder (marked >> above) to appear under Account and get rid off [Gmail] folder.

How to do that?

Thanks,

/jas

This is the current scenario:-

The person has several different e-mail addresses, Gmail, Hotmail and BTInternet.  Currently messages come into Windows Live Mail 2012 which is running under Wndows 8.  Message Rules have been written in WLM to direct incoming e-mails into some newly created inboxes.  This works after a fashion, but person has decided to now use OUTLOOK.COM so my questions are as follows:-

1.  Can OUTLOOK.COM be setup to provide the same inboxes as under WLM?

2.  Can mail from BTInternet, Gmail, etc., etc., be directed into the appropriate boxes?

3.  Does OUTLOOK.COM have facilities for writing Message Rules, and are they on similar lines to WLM?

4.  Can outgoing messages show the appropriate 'from' e-mail address, or will they all show the same originating address?

Version: Windows Live Mail 2011
OS: Windows 7 32-bit

Thank you for finding the time to read this inquiry.

I have been experiencing problems in Windows Live Mail 2011(WLM) after we shared the same email account in different Windows user account wherein it keeps asking the user for the email account password every time they open it for the first time after switching from another Windows user account.

To explain further, we setup the same email account in WLM to a different Windows user account (common user account) in the same PC so that the users won't have to use the Windows user account of the original owner of the email just so that they could read the email (since the original owner shares his email to other users within the group).

We made a common Windows account, setup Windows Live Mail with the same information as the original owner of the email, and then we changed the email storage folder of the common user account email  to the same location where the original email is located (it was redirected to the Profile of the original owner of the email).

With that setup, they are now sharing the same email within the same PC but with different Windows user account but the problem is every time they close WLM and switch to the other Windows user account, WLM seems to ask for the password of the email again. Clicking on remember password does not seem to work.

Also, before we could shared the same storage folder to the common user account, we had to share the whole account folder of the original owner under Users in Drive C: because of UAC.

Does anyone have an idea why this is happening?

Thank you very much!

Problem: I received an email with four attachments, all named "photo.jpg". WLM 2012 (Build 16.4.3508.0205) will open the first and last attachments correctly. If I click on the second or third attachment, the fourth attachment opens instead.

I can right click on attachments two and three, saves as, and that works fine.

Any ideas as to why normal opening isn't working?

Hello everyone!

I really have too far many folders along with my inbox folder inside my outlook, each of them have too many messages. Thus I really would like to take over which messages should be exported to my WLM.
In the past, I have added my hotmail account, then when I have clicked on export, all the message inside all the folders existed in my outlook have been exported to my WLM.
Also, whenever another incoming message came, it is exported to my WLM.

REPOST:  I use WLM as my desktop client for email at Comcast.net. I am now switching my email accounts from Comcast.net to Outlook.com. During the transition I have set my outlook.com account to send and receive the email at Comcast so that I only have to log into Outlook.com to see both accounts.

I notice that any Comcast emails retrieved through the Outlook.com account have a yellow banner across the top saying Unknown Sender. I can either ignore it or pick Allow Sender. It does this for every email, even if from the same sender.

When I send an email from my Outlook.com email either to Comcast or Outlook email there is no banner on the received message, but there is a banner on the copy in the sent folder.

I do not see any banner when I use the web based Outlook, only WLM.

I have tried the mentioned repair option with no results.
