Hello,

I have used Windows Live Movie Maker for some time, and it has worked pretty well, except for the crashing that happens sometimes. I find it works better if I save my work and close it from time to time. However, despite this, I have a desire for more features. I learned about Movie Maker 2.6 and the add-ons that can be added to it, and find that people tend to like the older versions of movie maker. I downloaded Movie Maker 2.6 from the website, but the preview screen upon the right was completely black except for telling what effect was to happen, and the bottom panel with (including) the buttons. I then downloaded Movie Maker 6.0, but it is not on the Microsoft Website for download. Does Microsoft support one being able to download Movie Maker 6.0? I have found the link on this site (multiple times), and at least 3 people with the Microsoft "banner" have given this the okay in some way. I want to make sure that this is legal, because at least once the way the okay was given was in a way that one could download Movie Maker 6.0, but Microsoft does not really support.

Thank-you in advance.

I'm getting an error when trying to save in HD on windows movie maker. (Error:0x87160139) My files are there and I have formats of .mov and .mp4 . Whenever I preview my video in WLMM, the files are fine, it's all there. It's when I try to save it that it stops at a percentage then has a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. This is for a school English project, I've been up all night trying to fix this, only to have it crash multiple times.

I am using Windows Movie Maker to make a lyric video. I imported the music and pictures. Then when I went to hit play, only a scratchy noise came out, not the music. My volume was up all the way, my computer speakers are fine (tested them by playing a song), I played the song file and it was fine, so I do not know what the problem is. Also, my software is all up to date. Thank you

When I try to play files or video in Windows Movie Maker it just shows a black screen, no sound either. I have used Windows Movie Maker no problem in the past and now it won't even play videos I have made previously that worked fine. I have downloaded the latest version of Windows Movie Maker and checked the video card - I still have the problem. When I upload a video or video file into Windows Movie Maker to edit it is no longer showing the loading bar that it used to show to indicate the video was loading in. What can I do?

As Live Movie Maker cannot be made to work for more than a few moments on my laptop I have downloaded Movie Maker 2012 but get a message saying my pc may not meet system requirements or video cards may be out of date.

My machine relevent details are:

Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

Memory : 4.00 (2.93 usable)

Processor : 2.53 Ghz

Browser : IE 8.0

Photo Gallery and Windows Media Player are installed

which all seem to match or are above the requirements stated in various answers.

I have looked at a number of video card help pages and am thoroughly confused.

My processor is Intel(R) Core(TM)i5 CPU

DirectX version : DirectX 11

DDI version : 10

Which, if any, of these parameters is not suitable for Movie Maker 12?  If the video card needs updating please point me to a specific site telling me exactly which card to install.

Dear Microsoft Service Team,

I recently discovered that Windows Movie Maker was not installed in my computer (which is weird since it is a very standard program).  I went to the Microsoft website and installed it.  I did not install all of the MS Essential programs that it wants you to install since I don't need them. I just wanted the Movie Maker.

After the Installation was completed, upon program start up I got an error message that said UXCore.dll was missing.  I copy and pasted this shared file from the program folders to the system32 folder.... then I got the error message that another file was missing.  I repeated the process mentioned before with the new file and now I get wlidcli.dll is missing from my computer.  this time I cannot find it anywhere.

How can I fix this problem?

Thank you!!

after I create my project and edit all my clips I preview my clips and everything is fine, all my clips are perfect, however after I click the SAVE MOVIE button with the you tube settings and I play my movie, some of my clips are now flipped upside down, sideways, and every other random way, which I still have my project saved and everything is fine there until I save as a movie then everything gets flipped around, how can this be fixed??

I downloaded from the Apps store Movie maker on my PC  that has Windows 8. I attempted to work with it by my projects were not as I thought. I did a trouble search on the Movie maker app to which it told me it was not compatible with my Windows 8 program on my new laptop. Please does anyone have a suggestion for a novice here as the main reason to acquire a new laptop was for an update version of Windows movie maker. Thanks again.
