I have made movies in older versions on laptop, but have struck problem with 2012 version Windows 8.1

I can get there and have successfully made a movie and published; but it was extremely tedious and time consuming. At the project stage, when inserting clips, the whole project would stop for minutes at a time. Then when playing back at project stage, the play-back stops frequently for minutes at a time. It took forever to finish. The program then made the move okay in good time.

I have made a very short movie (a couple of clips) without an issue (with clips from smart phone0; and at another time with a few clip with the same stopping problem (with GoPro clips). Could that be a relevant factor?

I know i have a below specs computer, but not sure just where it's failing. I'd like to know so that when I go and purchase a desktop, I need to get it right.

I'm using a brand new beaut Sony Vaio Pro 11: 4th gen Intel Core i7-4500U dual core processor 1.80Ghz with turbo boost up to 3.00Ghz. I'm asuming that the processor capacity and speed should be fine. Would that be true?

The graphics is certainly below spec: Intel HD Graphics 4400 .

However, I've been very pleased with the computer's performance in playing GoPro clips (despite being below their specs re graphics) so i thought it should handle Movie Maker.

Main Question is would the hesitating and stopping at project stage be the program itself (divorced from the specs of the computer); the processor; or the graphics; or a combo?

II hope someone can help me!  I am trying to make a movie by combining small clips and trimming them.  My problem is my clips are there and then they are not and have the yield looking symbol with '!.  My guess is I am not getting them saved to use??  I used  Sony Handycam DCR-SR47 video. I have saved them to my desktop then added the clips from there.  I just downloaded the Movie Maker this week.  The program freezes up too.  I just stopped typing this comment and wanted to try something else..didn't work but in the process it froze up so closed the program.  I restored and all my clips are back....but for how long!  I don't understand what is happening. Any help?

Thanks!  Kindergarten Teacher feeling helpless!

after I create my project and edit all my clips I preview my clips and everything is fine, all my clips are perfect, however after I click the SAVE MOVIE button with the you tube settings and I play my movie, some of my clips are now flipped upside down, sideways, and every other random way, which I still have my project saved and everything is fine there until I save as a movie then everything gets flipped around, how can this be fixed??

I have been trying to edit a video me and my friends made and when I import the clips into windows live movie maker (MOV File) the clips are just a plain green. I still get audio but no picture. I have ran "dxdiag" and "Microsoft FixIt" but nothing was found that was wrong. I know that someimes .MOV files don't work as well with windows live movie maker and I have tried to convert them to other file formats such as WMV but I keep getting the same result. Sometimes it will say some of my footage is corrupted or missing even though its right there on my desktop. If anyone could please help that would be great.

Thanks.

I've been using Movie Maker for a while now, but I have recently put a clip into a movie and it uploaded as a full green screen. I have no idea what's causing this, and it's starting to annoy me, because it is totally disabling my ability to review certain aspects of my movie and simply enjoy it as a whole. An extra note, the green screen is not always appearing on the clips/time that the timeline suggests it should, it seems that when I put a new clip in, its location changes.

Any tips?

I don't understand, why the clips, I have added to a Movie Maker project, don't work. All the clips in the video are of the same format, and I have recorded them myself. But suddenly, while I am editing, more than half of the clips don't work (show just black screen). When I double click on them, a box shows up, that says I have to delete the clips. I obviously don't want to remove them, as I have used more than three hours to get them right. Please help me before I go mad!!

I edited a bunch of clips and went to put them together to make a small movie. All the edited clips played fine. To bring them into the Movie Maker to get them all together I had to save them as a movie and then imported them via "Add viedo and phoots". I imported each clip and press play and all the audio turned to static, you can no longer hear the voices. The voices are gone in my original clips too. This happened 2 weeks ago as well and I just gave up.

Everything works when I trim and save and replay but something is happening when I am saving as a movie to mess up the audio. Any suggestions? I saved movie for high definition display.

I have Windows 8.1 and the 2012 version of Movie Maker
Need help fast! I uploaded and made a series of videos without realising the sound wasn't working on the clips I was using, and managed to fix the sound issue on the original clips, but if I go to re-upload them to re-make the videos with sound this time they stay without sound, because they have already been 'analysed' once by MM and it 'knows' them. How can I re-upload my clips and make them work with sound? (You know when you use a clip for the first time it prepares the video for playback quality before you can play it, basically I need to get it to do that again to all the ones it has already done.)

I hope I explained that okay...I am using Windows Live Movie Maker on Windows 7 Starter, and the video has to be done before Tuesday. Any help would be much appreciated!

After creating a 20 minute movie, and closing movie maker -- upon re-opening the program/project, most of the clips are blank. No video or audio. The source files remain untouched on the disk. The other clips play just fine. The source files play just fine using the built in default metro movie player.

The clips that do not play all have either anti shake or anti shake & wobble applied. The clips with neither of those filters applied seem to play just fine.
