I've been using Windows Live Writer for several years now and have a few plug-ins (Flickr4Writer, Text Template, Word Count) that I rely on. I just got a new Windows 8 laptop - I was able to install Windows Live Writer just fine, but when I try to go and add plug-ins, it takes me to a webpage that just has plug-ins for Photo Gallery. Are plug-ins not available for WLW anymore? Or is there a way to copy them off of my old laptop and onto the new one? Thanks!

I took my PC down to factory settings, to try to solve some problems.  I restored my backup before re-installing Windows Live Writer.  Now when I try to open previous drafts, the program does not find them.  I also can't find them.  I even tried a search for a past post title; it was not found.

How can I find them?

If I do find them, how can I direct Windows live writer to go there?

Thank you,

Kathy

I am running 32 bit Vista. Windows mail will not send email photo attachments. It has been suggested that I install Windows Live Mail but delete Windows Writer because of a related security issue with Vista. What does Writer do? How will not having Writer effect the functionality of Live Mail. Thanks.

Please help me!

I'm logged in to WLW, made an blog post but now blogger won't let me in via wlw!

It's a window asking for username and password to blogger.

I've been blogging from wlw to blogger for five years, and tried every single password and username I've had since. Nothing works!

I logged out from blogger blogspot to try and see what username and password I have.

But I am logged in with my google+, gmail address and a brand new password. They don't match either from wlw.
What to do?

My computer recently updated and now I can't copy individual product links from the Amazon Affiliate program into the bottom of blog posts composed in Windows Live Writer.  I don't understand how to fix this.

Yesterday, Windows Live Writer was working fine, then I tried to update Windows Live Writer— everything went south.  It was installed and working fine. I uninstalled thinking that'd resolve the issue on reinstall, now the application won't install at all.

I can't install the update to Windows Live Writer because of the error codes mentioned above.

The installer for Microsoft Windows Essentials go all the way through and then gets to 96% and then crashes with the error.

I have—

  • uninstalled, reboooted
  • reinstalled, rebooted
  • used the full installer, rebooted
  • used wlarp.EXE  /cleanup:all /q,
  • used msconfig and removed all non essential applications and services from startup,
  • installed all patches and driver updates.
  • installed the latest .net
  • and Internet Explorer 11 installed.
  • even tried installing under a different user profile

Why can't I install Microsoft Windows Essentials 2012/Windows Live Writer?

Please advise.

There's a new version of Windows Live Writer released; 16.4.3522.0110.

What OFFICIAL updates have been made by Microsoft on the application?

I can tell the name of the application still hasn't been updated to reflect the death the 'LIVE' products, but I'd like to see the official release notes on the application.

Until next time,
