Just upgraded to Windows Live Mail 2011. Everything I do with it is VERY SLOW. Pls help.

I am running Win 8 Prof.

I am using Windows Live mail (Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3505.0912)) and want to change the storage location of the mail files.

In an earlier posting, I saw reference to a "Maintenance" function in Win 7.

When I try to go to the email under "Options" I do not see a "Maintenance" function to change the file locations.

Hello. Tom here.

I've had this same problem ever since I joined Windows Live Mail, 3/19/2012, over a year ago. When I signed up the history of emails from the Yahoo account I had been using loaded into the Windows Live Mail inbox, all 26,572. Since then, if I select a response from some place that causes my default email account to launch, Windows Live Mail launches as the default and I can send an email message as it should. I can generate a new mail message in the Windows Live Mail account and it sends the email just fine. Sending outgoing emails is as it should be. The problem is that, since the moment that the Windows Live Mail account loaded the emails from my history, I have not been able to receive any further emails. When I attempt to receive into my inbox, the Windows Live Mail window popsup, as is normal, and the progess bar starts as is normal until it reaches about halfway across the progress bar. Then, the connection closes and the error message appears. I receive the same message each time, which I will copy below.

Just for the record, my Yahoo email account, the same account that Windows Live Mail downloaded the history of emails from, is the same account that I have always had as part of my internet provider package and it has always worked as it should, prior to, and subsequent to, signing up with Windows Live Mail a year ago. I continue to receive and send emails there without problems. My email address has been the same sine the 1990s, no change there, and my email addres is always the same everywhere I have had any email reference.

I don't know why Windows decided not to make Outlook, Live Mail, or whatever, a part of 7. I was doing fine with Outlook for more than a decade and I would not have switched from XP if I knew Outlook would not be supported - but - we are here now and I would really like to get Windows Live Mail up and functioning properly.

The error message;

Unable to send or receive messages for the *** Email address is removed for privacy *** account. Your server has

unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server

problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Thanks to all

I had Outlook express for email prior to an "intrusion" by a firm I confused with Time Warner Technical Support.  I had clicked on the misleading tag on Bing, spoke to a technical support person who proceeded to "correct" a problem with my email.

Suspicious about the directions provided by this "tech.support" I called Time Warner and was advised to interrupt the "fix" being processed by the "imposter" firm.

Upon re-booting my PC, I discovered "Live Mail" was installed as my email.  I can receive an email but it does not display the contents of the message.  I can open the mail if I go to the "road-runner" webmail page.

How do I fix this myself, Please someone, advise.

I recently had to reinstall Windows Vista due to A virus that totally screwed up security, and I lost the battle to fix it. I have all the update's done like SP2 & the 100+ updates, so everything is current.
I reinstalled Windows Live Mail from the newest Windows Essentials. I am reinstalling & not using backup's as much as possible so I don't re introduce a virus.

I do not know how to restore the Contacts. The importing from backup for account and all folders worked OK. I have searched forums on this. I cannot get a restore procedure that works. I think I have a newer version of the Windows Live Mail & maybe things were moved to different location's, which I cannot find. I have a full system backup.
Windows Live Mail version: 15.4.3555.308

If you have ideas on what to do, please let me know!

Bob

Why is it that items that I delete from my Inbox in Windows Live Mail are still present in the Inbox in Hotmail/Outlook? This is true also for Windows Mail. Why is that? Why don't they communicate meaning why doesn't what happens in one happen in all?

Another question: Why doesn't the background or stationary that you can use in Windows Live and Windows Mail show up in Hotmail or Outlook?

Just wondering....

I successfully moved from Outlook Express on an XP system - porting archived messages, etc.  Overall Live Mail is working, but I'm noticing some isolated issues. (1) At times I get a duplicated inbox message. On the second copy the message's title is in quotes.  (2) Occasionally I am unable to delete a message from my inbox. If I move the message to another folder, I can delete it.  (3) At times when I send a message, it is sent but my retained copy appears in my sent folder as an unopened message.  (4) This is the most troubling issue: Yesterday I tried opening a message from a trusted sender, but was unable to open it. Instead I got the message "A problem occurred trying to open the message. Try again".  Trying again didn't help. I tried moving the message to another folder, but still couldn't open it. I couldn't look at the properties on the message - I got the same "problem occurred " message. I was able to delete the message.

The first three issues are annoying, but not impossible to work around.  The fourth issue is a real problem.  Has anyone else encountered it?  Is there a fix?  I was quite pleased for the first 6-7 weeks I've been running the Live Mail, but the issues are escalating in severity.  Can I expect worse things?  Thanks for any insights you can share!

Hi at 1810 GMT in UK on Wednesday 20th March 2013

I have two machines a Laptop Windows 7 Home Premium and a Aspire Netbook Windows 7 Starter.

I use my Laptop most and have added a lot of folders to my Laptop Windows Live Mail but they do not on my netbook when I open it

Is there a way of synchronising the Live Mail between the two machines so the same folders will be on both machines

Many Thanks

I am thankful that HOTMAIL still exists. Windows Live Mail doesn't seem to have a capability for reporting Phishing Scams. I don't know what you do with these often stupidly-constructed attempted frauds in HOTMAIL when we label them and they vanish, but it's comforting to know that less cognisant "Dear Beneficiary" or "Congratulations, you've won the Lottery" recipients might be protected from sending their personal details to these evil liars.

If it's a known company, I always try to alert them. My own bank insists on messages pretending to come from it being copied or Forwarded to their security website [and somehow, the scammers cloned one of this bank's actual web security addresses!].

As to Live, am I missing something? All the Web Help is for HOTMAIL.
