How do i use the old windows live mail as deafult and get rid of outlook?

Or are they the same thing? I am trying to get the old windows live mail working again for my elderly mother as it took her a few years to get the hang of it. Now it has changed to outlook? and she is lost once again. She is using XP. I have tried to google answers yet cant seem to find the default for windows live. Every time i try to sign in to windows live it will come up with out look. Is there any way I can change it back. I am afraid she will be long dead before she learns the new system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Windows Live Mail says “Not Connected.” Why?

I can send a single email, and exit the Windows Live Mail program. The next time I try to access the program I only get a small window which says, Windows Live Mail. Below that it says, "Sending email using Comcast (j78b)..." Below that it says "Not Connected". Then there is a green stripe filling a long box. If I click on "Details", below that are two tabs. The one marked "Errors" just displays an empty box. The one marked "Tasks" always shows two entries:

 

Send 1 message(s) using Comcast (j78b).          Completed

Send 1 message(s) using Comcast (j78b).          Executing

 

The first entry has a check-mark in front of it.

The second entry has a small triangle in front of it.

 

That's where it hangs. The only way to "cure" the problem is to reboot, but then it recurs.

 

This problem just surfaced spontaneously today, after I had restored some email files which got deleted accidentally, using Carbonite.

 

Please tell me what is going on, and what to do about it. If I reinstall Windows Live Mail, will it wipe out all my email messages? Of course, I'd rather not go that route!

 My old Dell 1555 died, I saved the hard drive and now have it as a USB external drive. I am setting up my new Dell 5530 and need to transfer my Windows Live Mail - CONTACT list from old to new laptop (both Win7/64 home).  The old computer died before I could "export" Contact list. Please Help!"

Windows live mail has stopped working. I can't change the setting to work online. I repeatedly get the error message the processing of selected tasks was interrupted.

I had upgraded to Windows 8 then went back to Vista sp2 because of a conflict. Now all my windows live mail is gone. How do I get my mail back?

I ran a windows 8 upgrade to my laptop which originally had windows vista sp2.  I kept getting a "can't read memory error" on shut down.  So I reinstalled windows vista from the cd.  When I went into my windows live mail program all my mail was gone. 

Is it humanly possible to actually talk via telephone to a real live person at microsoft to help me resolve my Windows Live Mail and Microsoft account issues?

How do you set Windows Live mail to show images when you open any email.  I don't want to put all email in safe sender list.  But I hate having to click on open image every time

Original Title: Internet Explorer and Windows Live Mail

 

Since downloading Internet Explorer 8 my Windows Live Mail no longer retains addresses in groups. When I click on Contacts, all my groups are displayed including all the names asigned to the group. However, when sending an email, the group name appears in the To box, but none of the names are included. I've tried to redo the groups with a different group name, but when I try to send an email to the new group, the names and addresses don't carry over. How can I correct this problem?

In Windows Live Mail under VIsta Home Premium when typing come’s it appears as come’s.

When typing come's or any word using the ' it appears as  come’s.  The problem only appears when when printing e-mails from draft. I dont have this problem when pasting and saving into Word and printing from this application
