Original title: My hard drive crashed and had to be replaced.  I restored from a back up of the old hard drive.  Windows Live Mail no longer works.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate.
My hard drive crashed and had to be replaced.  I restored everything I could from my backup, which included mail, data, photos, etc., but not most of my programs.

When I try to run Windows Live Mail, I get this message:
"Windows Live Mail could not be started.  Unable to update your message databases.

An updated version of Windows Live Mail was successfully installed.  However, due to changes in the program, your existing accounts could not be fully updated.   Your existing email and newsgroup messages have been moved to a folder in your Inbox called Recovered Folders.   Your Windows Live Mail mailbox data is currently being used by another program, such as a virus scanner.   Close the program or wait for it to complete its operation, then open Windows Live Mail again (0x80070005)

OK'

At this point, whether or not I close my anti-virus, I then get this message:

"Windows Live Mail could not be started.  Windows Live Mail may not be installed correctly, or your computer is low on memory.
OK"

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Live Mail 2012.  Memory usage is not a problem (CPU usage 0%, physical memory 22%).

WHEN I START MY COMPUTER I CAN OPEN LIVE MAIL ,IF I LEAVE I CANNT OPEN IT AGAIN.

THE ONLY WAY I CAN GO BACK IS TO RESTART MY COMPUTER....????

Hello, I received a pop up box in Live Mail 2011 when trying to log in ...saying user name or password is incorrect.  I've had no problems up until this point.  After several attempts to log in without success, I rebooted the computer several times.  This didn't work either.  I called my internet provider and re-set the password... they also helped me reset the password on my Live Mail 2011 settings for that email account.  Again I tried rebooting and trying several times to log in...still not working.  After 5 hours of working with them and getting transferred to their tier 2 techs.. they concluded that it was a Windows Live Mail software issue.  They gave me the phone # to Microsoft.  Microsoft phone support said they couldn't help me and they said to do the online support.  Online support want to sign me up for a service contract  or they advised me to seek advice from this community online...so here I am.  Hopefully someone knows how to help!  Thanks in advance ....

For the last two and half years I have been using Windows Live Mail and have been able to send and receive file attachments such as Excel; Word; pdf and jpg without any problems. Now, and within the last three days, all of my outgoing and incoming attachments have been declared as Prohibited Files Download which cannot be opened. The Windows Live Mail suggested solution to this problem is to un-click the security option relating to attachments which then has a footnote that states that this option should not be used as will open the computer to viruses, etc. Some help that is! Any suggestions please.

I can not sign into my windows live mail. When I click it, it opens. I can see my email account on the side, but then a message pops up. You are working off line, would you like to go on line now? When I click yes, it ask me to put in my email and password. When I enter them, it says this service is temporarily unavailable. I think I set up my window live mail account wrong. Is anything I can do to fix this, or do I delete and start all over?

windows live will not accept my entering of email accounts, when I enter the information and press next, I am returned to to the same entry screen. Same result every time I try to enter an account, three of which are hotmail accounts

Windows Live Mail checks all my accounts then reports that there are no new emails. This has happened for the last three weeks after I had a problem with a system update which would not allow me to log onto my computer. I eventually solved that problem by using system restore.
everything else seems to work fine. I have checked all setting on my email accounts and all seems to be in  order. Can anyone please come up with a solution?
