50% of the time, I get these messages when I sign in to look at my emails:
Checking for messages on Charter.
Your IMAP server has not responded in 60 seconds. Would you like to wait another 60 seconds for the server to respond?
Some errors occurred while processing the list of tasks. Please review the list of error below for more details. But there is NO list of errors below!
I usually then use a different mail program connected to my Charter IP. Then, at a later point, when I go back into Windows Live Mail one of two things happen. Either my emails finally download the way they are supposed to, or just the headers download and when I go into an email, there is no content to it. Sometimes the program indicates I have say 45 emails, but they do not appear in the In box! Then I have to go into Accounts and click Download Emails. Once I had to wait 3 entire days before the emails came in. I usually have no trouble sending emails, although sometimes I cannot even do that. I get a message that says the mail program cannot cannot to the server.
ANY advice anyone can give me would be helpful. I think my frustration is so high at this point that I am going to start using gmail in hopes that I will not have these problems.

Hi,
In the last two days I have had continuous problems accessing Microsoft websites. IE informs me that the certificate has expired and thus content is being hidden. In addition Windows Live Mail has stopped syncing with my three outlook.com accounts.
I haven't changed anything on my accounts the only thing that has happened is Windows Update has updated.
My Windows Phone is unaffected and can access email perfectly.
Any ideas what has happened?
The error message in it's entirety is:
The connection to the server has failed.
Subject 'xoxoxoxo'
Server: 'smtp.verizon.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 465
Secure(SSL): Yes
Socket Error: 10060
I CAN send and receive mail by way of webmail at verizon.net.
I contacted Verizon Tech Support. I was told to change my Incoming Server from "incoming.verizon.net" to "pop.verizon.net".
I was told to change my Outgoing Server from "outgoing.verizon.net" to "smtp.verizon.net"
After changing the server IDs there was no difference.
Verizon switched the Outgoing Port a long time ago from 25 to 465.
My Incoming Port is 995.
The Outgoing Port is checked to "My server requires authentication" and "Uses the same settings as the Incoming Server".
Both Ports are checked to "This Server requires a secure connection (SSL)"
After 50 minutes on the phone with remote control of my system, I was told the problem was not on their end and was told to go to the web and see if I could find an answer there.
I have run Norton Utilities and cleaned and compacted my Registry.
I have uninstalled all Windows Essentials including Windows Live Mail.
I have downloaded and reinstalled Windows Live Mail.
I have followed all the instructions in the replies to various community messages.
I am still unable to Send or Receive email.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
my windows live mail starts to open but just hangs there saying "starting".
I tried to repair it in control panel to no avail.
I was going to uninstall and reinstall but I am afraid I will loose contacts and emails.
I can right click on Icon on bottom right side of page and send emails but cant see my inbox or other folders.
Can I create a back up before I uninstall.
Any ideas at all wouldd be helpful.
