I use Windows Live Mail -- for outgoing new messages I'm getting double-spacing after each paragraph and have to do a Shift-ENTER to do single paragraph spacing.  I cannot find the capacity to do even basic default format setting other than the font and font size.  How can I change such simple defaults as the paragraph spacing?

I had distinctive different contact lists for MSN messenger and Windows Live Mail used on MSN.  After the conversion some contacts were listed more than once in the "contact" area of Windows Live Mail.

On my Primary Windows computer I was OK with this. However I have a secondary computer at a vacation home not used since May 2013 which had a lengthy contact list.  In late October this list was truncated and most of the contacts PC have disappeared, leaving only previous MSN Messenger contacts.

I need to recover all the contacts I had in May.  I am also fearful that when I restart my primary computer in December its contact list may become a casualty.

Although I can login to the outlook.com interface I strongly prefer to use the Windows Live Mail interface for email communication.  I suspect that this problem is related to the fact I have several MSN email accounts ( @MSN, @Hotmail, @live) as well as MSN Messenger, and somehow contact truncation occurred.   No email as lost.

Add:  I have backups on a Windows Home Server and have located a backup file called Users/my name/AppData/Local/Microsoft/WindowsLiveContacts/{id number}/DBstore/contacts.edb.  The MODIFICATION date shown is several years before the last contact entry of contacts made on this computer.  (There are 3 other files, contacts.pat, dbstore.ini and edb.chk here as well, and a Backup and a Logfile directory.  Is there a different place where more recent contacts for Windows Live Mail are stored, and if so where?

Win 8 Live Mail was also working fine for me until I upgrade to Win 8.1 this morning. Now it constantly give error message that it cannot find the email servers. I have 2 gmail (IMAP) account and one streamyx (POP3) account and all have similar errors. Please refer to error message and mail server set ups below. Please take note that I have no issue with all 3 mails when I use Windows Mail app. I have also repaired Win Essential 2012 successfully but problem did not go away.

If the error persists, check to see if there's an upgrade of Windows Live Mail available or contact a service representative.

I have just gone on to Windows 8 and Windows Essentials is included. I wrongly assumed that the mail app was 'Live Mail'. I've been unable to locate / open Live Mail and so some guidance will be appreciated please. I need a non web based email programme to link with another and the mail app does not work.

With thanks.

I am trying to receive notifications & reminders for events added to my Windows Live Calendar.  I would appreciate any help on the following questions:

1) Does Windows Live Mail have pop-up notifications or reminders for calendar events?

2) If WLM only has reminders e-mailed to you, can I choose which e-mail address those notifications go to?  (For instance, I have multiple e-mails in my WLM application and would prefer that the notifications do not go to my Hotmail address, but my business address.)

3) I always experience lag in receiving my e-mails; e-mails will have shown up on my phone or in my webmail many minutes before my WLM.  Because of this, I am experiencing very late notifications/reminders for calendar events.

4) Currently, there are 4 calendars listed in my Windows Calendar it seems:
My calendar
US Holidays

Is there a way I can delete either 'My Calendar' or 'Calendar' and how do I know which is which? I have searched for a long time and have found no way to delete one of these, just to disable the notifications - but the events still appear double on the calendar.  (For example, when I add an event, it shows twice.)

Thanks, hope someone can help here.
I am receiving the following error message for only one sender:  An unknown error has occurred. Sometimes I can view the message and sometimes I receive the error 'Message Cannot Be Found'. I cannot delete any of these messages. They continue to pile up. How can I correct this error. Again, it is only happening with one particular email addresses messages being sent to me. Thank you.
Hi There, having problems with windows live mail, it was working fine for the last 2 years or so and then one morning about a week ago it just had a fit and refuses to accept my username and password any more. What is going on?.
I recently switched from Qutlook to Windows Live Mail. I use QuickBooks Pro 2012 and have Windows 7 for an operating system. My problem is that Live Mail does not create a "sent mail" folder for the documents I e-mail from QuickBooks. I have contacted QuickBooks tech support and they said to contact Microsoft to find out if Live Mail supports 3rd party software. I cannot seem to find a phone number to ask Microsoft the question and the one person I did reach for chat help said he could not answer the question and directed me here. Does anyone know if Live Mail supports 3rd party software?
