I have the same problem! All of a sudden my live account doesn't work with Windows Essentials. I have tried readding the account and it still doesn't work.

I have gone into My Computer, Programs, and tried fixing Windows Essentials. I have deleted old emails and rebooted, etc. I have tried turning off my Avast anti-virus software and have changed both the servers and ports while trouble shooting with Time Warner. Below is a copy of the error message I receive when I try to send an email from any of the accounts in Live Mail.
The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for '*** Email address is removed for privacy ***', please contact your email service provider.

I would greatly appreciate help in resolving this issue.
Thank you!
I am currently trying to use wmm from windows essentials. Seems pretty easy, but it would be nice if there were a video that showed you how to make a video from start to finish. I am going to train total newbies, so I want a simple program. and right now I am finding by hunt and peck my way, but I am sure there is a smoother, and more efficient, and simpler way to make a video.

I have a new (one month old) HP desk top running Windows 8. Downloaded Live Mail which worked fine for about 3 weeks. After Live Mail wouldn't start (little blue circle next to "starting" and stuck there) I decided to uninstall the program and start over. Went to the Microsoft Download Center and tried to download Live Mail (Essentials) Got "box" that said "Installing Windows Live Essentials 2011" with a % complete indicator. It came to a standstill at 99% (a half dozen times). Nothing short of starting the task manager and ending the program (Windows Live Installer - 32bit) would work. Went to Windows Essentials and tried again. Got a "box" that said "preparing to install Essentials 2012" with the little green bar chasing itself across the screen. Wouldn't do anything else. I'm at my wits end with this thing. HELP! Did I mention I hate Windows 8? Give me version 7 any day.

I have IE 11 which does not offer the "work offline" option in the File drop down menu.
I've tried "repairing" Windows Essentials 2012.
How do I switch it back to working online?
Thank you.
