My hotmail account

My MSN mail account has deleted all my emails that were older than 10/22/2013.  It was not moved into an archive or into a POP account.  I set up in my account settings not to archive anything that is under 12 months.  This the second time that this has happened and I need to get these emails back.  How can this be done?

I have been able to send and receive mail on my pop account. For the last week I am not able to send out mail using my POP account. Error message is:
Sending report error: 0x800CCC80. None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server.

Please advise how I can get my emails sent out through Outlook and my pop account.

When I click on “Your Emai Accounts” link I get the message “You need to verify your account before you can add a new account”.

I want to get mail from another account to show up in Outlook.  I have been getting this message for weeks.

I am sooooo frustrated.  This should be simple.  The instructions are simple.

Add a Yahoo! Mail or other POP account to Outlook.com
  1. Click the Options icon , and then click More mail settings.

  2. Under Managing your account, click Your email accounts.

  3. Under Add an email account, click Add a send-and-receive account.

  4. Enter the email address and password of the email account that you want to add to Outlook.com, and then clickNext.

I HAVE VERIFIED MY ACCOUNT MANY TIMES, IT HAS BEEN WEEKS.  WHY CAN'T I ADD AN ACCOUNT.  PLEASE HELP!!!  This is starting to impact my business and it is a big deal to me.

Seriously, what possibly can I do to get past this error and start using your program?  Do you not want me to use your program?  I don't get it.  This is suppose to be easy.

Is there some other way I can explain this to maybe possibly find someone who can understand and fix this issue?

Thank you,

Not receiving mails from any POP account

Since one week Outlook.com has not received any of my POP accounts.

Unfortunatly, when I try to edit the setttings of the added accounts, i get following notice: "Sorry, there seems to be a problem with Outlook at the moment. "

Thats why I'm even not able to delete and re-setup the accounts.

Have automaticcally set up forwarding to my hotmail from a different (non-hotmail) account sucessfully for the past 5 years.

I have been forwarding my company emails from a pop account to show up in my personal hotmail account for the past 5 years. As of the middle of July 2013, I have never received any emails from that company account. Where are they and how can I recover them? I spoke with the company email service and they said that the log shows that they had all successfully been forwarded.

One time each year, Outlook 2011 generates duplicate e-mails – fix?

28. September 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Outlook for Mac · Tags: Entourage, outlook settings, pop account
I have Outlook 2011 running under OS 10.6.8. Time-Warner is my ISP and the e-mail is a POP account. About once every 12 months, usually in early Autumn, all my e-mail gets duplicated in each of my e-mail sub-accounts. The same thing also happened when I was using Entourage 2008 with OS 10.4.x and 10.5.x, but not with the previous Entourage 2004 ... going to Entourage 2008 seemed to be the start of this. What's going on?

I manually clean-out and delete the files, and I'm OK for another year. Note: duplicate e-mails only show-up on the Outlook POP account, but not when viewing the TW web mail from my browser.

I previously contacted Time-Warner, and they blamed Entourage / Outlook settings (but could not identify what those should be) ... ultimately, they said it was a problem for Microsoft tech support.

I contacted Microsoft tech support; they verified my Outlook settings were appropriate for a POP account. They told me it was not a Microsoft issue, rather a problem with Time-Warner e-mail servers, mostly likely associated with some reboot or system reset. Time-Warner denied this could be the cause, however, they are more Win-PC focused, and have little knowledge with the Mac version of products. For what it's worth, by wife's PC on the same account, running XP and Outlook 2007, does not have this problem.

  • Is there an advanced setting within Mac Outlook 2011 to prevent this in the future?
  • I have several 1000 duplicate e-mails; what is best software or Outlook plug-in to remove duplicates?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Vanishing e-mails

06. September 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: pop account
I have had a hotmail account for longer than I can remember and have always found it simple and easy to use. Since my account has been changed over my e-mails keep vanishing from my inbox. I have the account linked to a POP account and therefore do not log in daily or anything like that but it is certainty within your 270 day time frame and still my e-mails are gone but only from my hotmail account and not the pop account.

This is really annoying as I rely on my hotmail account e-mails when not at home with my POP linked computer and I am frequently discovering that the e-mail that I have logged on to find has gone. Looking at the threads I have noted that this seems to be a common problem for a number of users, yet nothing seems to have changed.

If the situation is not resolved then I will be deleting my longstanding account as I am sick and tired of all my e-mails vanishing. I wish my old hotmail account settings could be re-stored as I never had any problems until I was moved over. Even my emails from April this year have been deleted and I can't recover them on my e-mail account.

Why is this happening and can it be fixed? If my e-mails can't be restored/ no explanation given then I will be changing to a new account rather than continue to encounter the same problems time and time again.

I look forward to your response.

Lost messages from POP account

05. September 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: Mac Mail, pop account

My outlook is linked to my iPhone and Mac Mail through a POP account.

I have the setting "Don't let another program delete messages from Outlook. (If your other program is set to "delete messages from the server," we'll simply move them to a special POP folder. They won't be deleted.)"

Unfortunately I have noticed that many of my messages seem to magically disappear from the POP folder and the inbox.

Can anyone help?

Authentication problems using external pop accounts from Outlook.com

15. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: authentication problems, external pop accounts, pop account

I use Outlook.com to service email from two external pop accounts. While I can receive messages to outlook.com from these external pop accounts, sending fails immediately. I have tried all combinations of login/password, SMTP ports, and security types (they do not support SSL).

The error that is forwarded to my outlook.com primary account when it fails to send has this attachment:

Reporting-MTA: dns;col0-wss1-s6.col0.hotmail.com
Received-From-MTA: dns;BLU179-W62
Arrival-Date: Thu, 15 Aug 2013 09:44:39 -0700

Final-Recipient: rfc822;*** Email address is removed for privacy ***
Action: failed
Status: 5.6.2
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;554 5.6.2 Delivery SMTP Error. Command: 4. Response: 502 Command not implemented
. Type=1 (-956218626:896:-2147418113)

The administrator at my pop account provider says this:

Hello Paul,

Since we were able to get the email to work, you should be able to as well.  Our email admins tell us that your messages sent from outlook.com attempted to connect and login to the smtp server using AUTH PLAIN authentication method which we don't support (we only support DIGEST-MD5 and LOGIN).  We're not sure how or why your setup is different and why its using that authentication method but this would be what you need to check into.

Thank you,

netiDnow Support

Of course, any assistance would be graciously accepted!

Outlook.com is unable to retrieve e-mails from an external POP account

03. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: email clients, external POP account, pop account
About half-way through the day today I notice I was no longer getting e-mails from an external POP account into my Outlook.com Inbox, and when I went to check status under "More mail settings", I saw this message under the "Your email accounts" heading on that page:

There was a problem getting messages from your other accounts.

Drilling further in, it reports this for the account in question:

This account cannot currently receive email. Click Details for more info.

Clicking "Details" uncovers this unhelpful bit of wisdom:

We couldn't get your messages: Please wait for a moment. The problem should be fixed soon.

Of course it never does get fixed.

For the record, I didn't make any settings changes at all - it just stopped working.  AND, before you ask, yes, all my other e-mail clients like Outlook 2013 and others are still able to retrieve my emails from this account via POP as they've always been able to do.  It is ONLY Outlook.com that cannot or will not connect and retrieve from this account via POP, even though it had worked fine for months up until this morning and I've made no changes to settings on either side.

Troubleshooting further, if I choose "Edit" from the "Details" dialog and then click "Save" without making any changes to the settings, an then click "Save" again after it asks where to put emails retrieved from this external account, then it reports failure, but if I then return to my Outlook.com inbox, all missing e-mails from my external POP account have magically been fetched.  However, it turns out this is a one-time fetch and the problem is not fixed - all subsequent automatic fetches which I understand happen about once every 30 mins - fail.

So, in summary, nothing changed, and all other email clients to this POP account continue to work normally, but outlook.com suddenly cannot connect anymore and offers me nothing more helpful to troubleshoot the problem than the unhelpful messages shown above.

Can anyone offer any insight or clue as to what may have gone wrong and what I can do about it?  Please skip the obvious stuff - I've worked in IT for 20 years.

Thanks in advance,

Dave
