My friend needs to use my computer to check her emails, but of course, when I sign out of my Outlook account so that she can sign into hers, it just automatically signs back into mine again.
Any ideas why this needed to change? Because now it's just stupid.
Hello
Recently I tried sending a mail to my office from my outlook email account and it was shown that the mail was successfully sent and it was available in the sent folder, but later when i checked with them they had not received any mail from my outlook account.
I tried sending the same mail from my hotmail but still the mail was not delivered but there was no error message also.
Thanks
Aswin
This is a fairly new account, set up a couple of months ago, but it's now my main account so this is a BIG problem.
I use Thunderbird for emails, both sending and receiving. For some unknown reason I haven't been able to send emails using the Outlook account from Thunderbird; every time I tried I got an "account locked" message. It wasn't a big deal before today because I just picked another account and used that.
Today though I'm missing some information that I thought was coming in an email to this account, so I decided to log in to the webmail version and check the Spam folder (assuming you have one; I don't really know). And I can't get in, to any part of the email account - not the Inbox, not Spam - nothing.
When I got the login screen I typed in my account name and password. Then I got a screen saying my account had been locked and offering to send a security code to my phone. I don't usually like to give out my # but this seemed like a priority so I decided to try. Then I ran into another problem because in the entire list of country codes there was none for the United States. I decided to ignore that and just type in the number. As of right now, which is at least 15 minutes later, my phone has not received any text messages - which makes me wonder if Microsoft sent my security code to someone with the same number in Afghanistan (the first country on the list).
Eventually I got to my profile, but it took several minutes of searching before I located an "edit" link. Then when I clicked that I got a screen listing another email account, presumably the backup I set up. Unfortunately all I could see were the first two letters and I thought it was an old Gmail account that I've since deleted, so I clicked a button to have that address deleted. Then it wanted to send *another* security code somewhere. Since the previous one didn't ever arrive I wasn't sure what to do, until I remembered that my wireless internet modem has a phone number too. I used that one (and for some reason it assumed I was in the US), got the code, plugged it in - and now there is a message that this email will be deleted on November 17, *a full month from now.* In the meantime I can't seem to do a thing with this account. I can't check messages, I can't change anything - I can't even delete it.
I tried using Thunderbird to send a test message from one of my other accounts to the Outlook one and it did come through, so that end is still working - for receiving messages (I'm afraid to try sending any). But on the webmail side - I have no idea what is going on or what I should do now.
I apologize if this doesn't make sense but I'm really confused myself right now. I've had quite a few other email accounts over the years but I've never had as much trouble using one as I have with this Outlook account.
EDITED TO ADD: I did find some other threads here with the same topic but there were no useful answers there and the threads had all been locked by a moderator so I did some more searching and found this page:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-live/id-support
and submitted a request there. I thought I'd put this link up in case anyone else has a problem like mine.
I do want to mention that people might have trouble with the Captcha; it took me 5 or 6 tries before what I typed in (which I'd done carefully and verified, BTW) was accepted (I think).

I have no new emails in my hotmail inbox today which is highly unusual but not impossible, so I sent myself emails from my outlook account and from a separate account and I received neither one of them. If anyone has found a solution to this problem which
will actually work I would appreciate any help you could provide, I am becoming increasingly frustrated with the myriad of problems with MSN, outlook and internet explorer, I am considering closing my account when my current membership expires.
In working with a family member's @outlook account and it requiring an alias I put in my @hotmail account and that messed things up, when I removed it I didn't realize it was deleting my entire account. This just happened today hoping I can some how recover
my original address. It won't let me create it as says it's in use but said address is wrong when I tried to sign in or change password. I have created the @outlook account with the same username but won't allow me to add the @hotmail alias.
My problem started when I tried to add Outlook to my new Samsung phone. I kept getting a message that the password did not work on my phone for outlook. I never had these problems when I had added Outlook to my Blackberry.
Finally I removed Outlook .com from my phone altogether, and have since changed my outlook password twice. Now I keep getting a message when I sign into my outlook account on my PC that I have tried to use the wrong password too many times and it makes
me use a second verification using the symbols and letters.
The problem is I have NOT signed in with the incorrect password at all. So why am I getting this message? Is someone else trying to access my account and is that why I keep having to sign into this dual verification? It is really getting old. I am
thinking of shutting it down completely.
Hello,
I recently got my first Android phone (from an iPhone) a few days ago and I have some issues with adding my Outlook account to the native email app on my Nexus 4. I'm trying to set it up as IMAP, but I can't seem to pass through. I'm trying to stick with
the native app instead of downloading a 3rd party app or the Outlook app for Android.
Here are the details I used:
*** Email address is removed for privacy ***
password
> Manual setup as = IMAP
Incoming settings
username = *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
password = password
IMAP server = imap-mail.outlook.com
Port = 993
Security type = SSL/TLS
Outgoing settings
SMTP server = smtp-mail.outlook.com
Port = 587
Security type = SSL/TLS
Require sign-in = *checked*
When I try to finish the setup, it wouldn't go through so I changed the security type to SMARTTLS for the outgoing settings and it worked, but why isn't it working when it's set to SSL/TLS? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I decided to switch from using gmail to using outlook.com today and have been using Outlook 2010 to move my old emails over manually.
I set up my gmail account as an extra inbox in Outlook 2010 using their IMAP settings and set up my newly created outlook account using the instructions found here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2735989/en-us
After that, I've been manually moving each folder from gmail to outlook.com and waiting for Outlook 2010 to sync with the network.
Unfortunately, a couple of hours ago I received the following errors when Outlook 2010 was attempting to sync:
Task '*** Email address is removed for privacy ***' reported error (0x80041003) : 'The server reported a temporary error. Error: 5102. Server. Exception occurred in LoadProfileStore.
Task '*** Email address is removed for privacy ***' reported error (0x8004102A) : 'Error with Send/Receive. There was an error synchronizing your folder hierarchy. Error: 80041004.'
I then attempted to log onto my outlook account and could only see this message:
Sorry, there seems to be a problem with Outlook right now
When I clicked the link to report this to Microsoft, I also checked the Status History. I see there was a problem with Outlook today:
October 2013
However, it is also telling me that this problem was resolved. Does anyone know if there is a problem with outlook.com or if this is specific to my account? Any help is greatly appreciated and I thank you in advanced.

Hello,
I accessed my Outlook account yesterday and found that all my emails, folders, contacts had disappeared. Can you please urgently advise why this has happened? I have accessed my account within the last month. There were very important emails in my account that I really need. Can you please urgently assist with this?
Thanking you.
Kind Regards,
Paul
You know how Hotmail works. I had an account, my wife had her own box in my account. How can I add her to my Outlook account with her own email box and password
