This has been a long term problem with Windows Live Mail

The new mail sound notification works as expected for new mail arriving in my inboxes BUT whenever I delete an email from my JUNK mail folder a few seconds later I get the New mail notification sound.

The visual indicator in the taks bar also suggests a new email has arrived but this  is not correct. There are no new or unopened emails in Hotmail or any other other accounts I use in WLM. The new mail notification is not accurate as presently it is constantly giving false alarms.

Please advise.

In outlook, my numbered new mail notification still shows 1 new email. I have emptied the entire inbox, saving the read messages to different folders. I have also tried to "mark all as read" and "delete all" options - no change. I am still getting the new mail notification ("Inbox" in bold type, with a circled #1).

Hi,

I have just started using Windows Live Mail 2012 with Windows 7, and generally very happy with it. One slight annoyance is what happens when I double click on the new mail notification icon (the one with the yellow envelope in front of the blue one). This takes me to the inbox of the default email account, even if the new mail has arrived in one of my other email accounts! When there is no new mail, double clicking this icon (blue envelope only) takes me to whatever folder/account I was last viewing (which makes sense). Ideally I would like the new mail notification icon to take me to the Quick views/Unread email folder. Is this possible?

Regards,

Adrian
