I used Movie Maker years ago and it never did this. Is there a reason?

My 8 minute video has been preparing itself for 30 mins and it's not even half way done. Why does it do this? I'm not using my computer to do anything else so it's not like my computer it working on something else at the same exact time. I don't know why
it has to prepare a video.
Two questions 1) After I get my music loaded into my movie maker, I would like to burn the slide show (photos and music only) to a CDR or a DVD. I would like them to be able to watch it on their tv. What do I buy to burn it? I have a CDR, but don't
think that can be seen on TV, can it? Do I need something else?
The second question is the pictures have black edges if I put the aspect ratio to widescreen. Is that how it will look to them on their widescreen? Too bad I didn't see how to crop and save the skinny pictures. But there are 389 of them, so I do not want to be converting all of those. Is there an easier way to make them fill the whole screen or should I just leave the aspect ratio at standard? It looks better in the movie maker, but I don't know how it will look on the widescreen tv--probably worse?

using movie maker how do I save an unfinished project and then come back later to finish it.
I don't like the new Movie Maker. Are there no more scenes selection on the lower part of the screen? How do I add different visual effects to the same video?? Whenever I select a visual effect it just restarts the movie and overrides the other effect.

i've got a problem with windows essentials.
i wanted to download windows movie maker because i wanted to learn about video editing and it is said it is an awesome programm.
i already downloaded it once a really long time ago for the photo gallery. but also deleted it a couple of months ago.
now i wanted to install it again because of previous reasons.
As i should i started downloadin windows essentials. but when i wanted to choose wich programms to install i couldn't click on movie maker/photo gallery, because they were "already installed"? wich certainly isn't true because i deleted them.
i tried to delete every single bit that had to do something with windows essentials/movie maker/ photo gallery but i'm still getting the same error.
Does anyone recognise the problem and have a solution for it?

I split the movie clips and trimmed them. But I could not connect various trimmed sections and photos into one file. Please help me.
My movie maker is not functioning properly. I have tried all the steps from other threads: Uninstalled/reinstalled movie maker, unistalled/reinstalled drivers, all drivers up-to-date, visited video card website and updated latest version.
I don't use the program very often, not since February 2013 when it worked fine.
Does not play simple program text
Does not play video in any form
Does not play images in any form
Does not play anything
If I load several photos and save, they can be viewed as on from Windows Media Player
Had 2011, didn't work. Installed 2012 and still doesn't work. Switched back to 2011, nothing. Back to 2012, nothing.
if anyone can help that would be great. I have been using movie maker for a while and it has been fine but now when I make a movie and press save movie it stays on 0%. what is the solution to make it work again.
After a virus dell has installed my computer new. I am runnning Windows 7. Since this new installation I can not publish any movie. I can upload the projects, I can see them on the right side, but they don't show on the big screen on the left side. If
