How do I get Hotmail to accept that Flashplayer, latest version is installed?

Cannot play any you tube videos sent to my hotmail address. I always

get message that the latest version of Adobe Flash Plaayer is needed--

I have downloaded it more than once and it has successfully installed.

The last effort was to uninstall it and reinstall it, and yes Java Script

is enabled.

Got this message this morning when Windows requested to do updates -- clicked links for help, but they led nowhere -- too old? Got an error message yesterday too fleeting to quite catch, that said I had multiple errors; the day before that, Java asked permission (on startup) to install updates, then disappeared. Clearly, I kinow nothing about any of this, but am trying to start a home-based business on the internet, so I need my computer! Grateful for any help offered!
