I am trying to get window Movie Maker to recognize my digital video camera ( A sony  DCR-TRV460). I currently have Windows 8.1. I have open Movie Maker and Selected import from Device. I then turn on the camera in playback mode and the connect the USB cable. I do not see my camera and then I hit refresh and still do not see it. I also tried it on my old computer running Vista and the same thing happened. I also tried it on my sister-in=laws computer and nothing.  I download a new Microsoft Essentials and checked the Sony site and they indicated the drivers were present. I do not know what else to do please help. Also after loading 8.1 my  Microsoft Lifecam HD-5000 camera is not working. In Skype the light goes on in the camera but the screen is blank with a circle going round and round please help.

I have an older digital video camera. The files are MPEG files which worked with Movie Maker on XP. Does Windows 8 support MPEG files? I have audio but no video when using Movie Maker and Windows Media Player. If it is supported, what do I need to do to see the video file?  Thank you.
My computer and MS Movie Maker appear to connect to my DV Camera with no problem, but when I attempt to import video,
it does not capture anything and just shows the black screen. MS Movie Maker correctly rewinds the tape and begins playback on my camera. I have updated the software on PC and laptop, after updating the import worked on laptop but not on PC. Drivers for video are up to date and I can see other content and photos in Movie Maker. I just can't get the import to function. Checked the Codex, which checked out ok, with MS tools. Any ideas?
