Unable to change Security Info

24. July 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account settings, mobile phone, security info
In Account settings when I click on the Security Info link I am prompted to send a text message to my mobile phone.   When I attempt to do this I am given the message "We couldn't send the code. Please try again.".

It appears that the SMS functionality does not work so I'd like to change my security info to an alternate email address.  How can I do so?

Thanks in advance.

3170 error on Macbook

22. July 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Outlook for Mac · Tags: account settings, DNS settings, email account works
Hi there,

I offer hosting to customers and a customer has recently got an error when moving their email to ourselves. I don't think its web/email hosting related as the email account works perfectly on our PC's & MACs just not on this one customers Macbook.

The error they get is:

===========================
Error - Outlook cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the account settings, and that your DNS settings in the network pane of system preferences are correct.

Details - Outlook cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the account settings, and that your DNS settings in the network pane of system prefferences are correct.

Account Name "XXXXXX"
Error Code: -3170
===========================

Any one have any ideas why this is happening? I'm no MAC specialist so haven't been of too much use to date. But would love to get it sorted. I've done remote support etc. to verify they were entering the correct information - and it's all correct. So with the correct details on the account (on their MAC) they get this error.

They're using Outlook.

Regards and thanks in advance! :)

Cannot access “Account Settings”. “Account.live.com” is a Blank ,White Page

19. July 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account settings
With the exception of when I opened this account, I have NOT been able to access the "Account Settings" page to further "Tweak" any of the settings for my account. The "Account.live.com" page comes up as a "Blank, White Nothing Page". Once, I was directed to a "Sign In" page, however, after 'signing in' i was sent to the "Great White Nothing" page.

I am attempting to make settings to my account to make it a Private and Exclusive as Possible.

I want to remove EVERYTHING that is "Public" accessible. Remove the "Public Profile", "People", "The Cloud", "Messenger", "Skype", etc. In other words; How do I remove EVERYTHING that is Not my E-Mail account???

Email account settings deleted when Outlook is Eacclosed

I have to re-enter my account settings every time I open Outlook in order to receive emails but when I close it, the account is deleted again.   Please help!

Thank you for the advice.    My MacBook wouldn't allow me to follow all the steps you recommended but I eventually found the Microsoft Database Utility, highlighted the only identity listed as "main identity"and clicked on "rebuild".   This seems to have worked and my email account no longer disappears when I close Outlook.   Thank you again.

I’m not able to receive new incoming emails for my account. It occurred suddenly without changing anything to my account settings.

I'm not able to receive new incoming emails for my account for quite some time. I can send emails using the account but can't get any. For your information, I have not changed any settings or edit any options in my account. I'd tried sending an email to my own account but the email was not received. The mailbox space available is still a lot. It just occurred suddenly for no obvious reasons. Can you please help me to solve this problem.

The message I continually get now, after correcting a 5.1.2 error message is:

Outlook cannot find the server.  Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that your DNS settings in the Network.. [I cannot get the rest of the message to show.]

Outlook always opens regardless of this message.  And it appears to be functioning properly otherwise.  What is causing the message and how do I eliminate it?

how do I access my Windows Live Mail account to ammend settings

08. March 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: livemail · Tags: account settings, ammend, email settings, Windows Live Mail account

I think I've made an error entering my email settings as I can receive emails but can't send them.

I wanted to check &, if necessary, ammend the settings but find that the only option when I click "Accounts" is tp add an email address and no option to ammend the existing one. I've tried adding the info again with the ammendment I want to try but it is still trying to send using the original settings.

Would be very grateful if someone can tell me how to access the account settings
