Stolen account – need help to retrieve

18. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account recovery, MSN chat
Hi,

I have a hotmail account that I've had for more than 10 years, that I only used mostly for msn chat - it was not used for email much. About a year ago, my login on msn chat stopped working. I assumed it was a problem with my password. It turns out that somebody hijacked the account and is now using it themselves.

I'm going to have trouble retrieving this account - I have already tried the Account Recovery process but without success, and this is going to be difficult as I have not used the account for a while, and hardly ever used it for email.

Information that I can provide includes:

historical passwords
archived MSN chat records
addresses of MSN chat contacts and historical email recipients

I appreciate that you have a standard account recovery process, but I'm very worried that this is not going to work in my situation, for the reasons above. I'm also concerned that if my account is returned to me, the person that stole it will use account recovery to get it back, as they have been using it recently.

Thanks,

-Tim

Cannot sign in to my live.com account even after recovering it

Hi,

I am trying to access my @live.com account the last 3 days and I keep receiving the message "That password is incorrect. Make sure you're using the password for your Microsoft account." I have tried to reset the password 7 - 8 times with no luck. I contacted the Microsoft support chat and they recommended to fill in the account recovery form. I did this and I received confirmation that account has been recovered and I have to reset my password. I did that again but when I tried to log in I got the same error message again. Is there any way to get proper Microsoft support? This is very frustrating as this account is used for my XBOX live account and I cannot access my profile services/apps through XBOX that I already pay.

Can you please help?

Thank you

Microsoft account hacked…

17. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account recovery, microsoft, Microsoft account
Hello.

My Hotmail account, cornucopiaoflovee@hotmail.com, has been hacked.

I have contacted the Microsoft team 7 times (spoke roughly 30 min each time), to no avail. I ended up being brought here by Geraldine from the Online Safety Team.

I have tried account recovery and they have changed the email that I had as a recovery email. I went to  (https://account.live.com/password/reset) to do the validation process. So, I tried to get back into it by filling out the form for an alternate e-mail (entering previous passwords, folders, recent sent message titles and recipients, etc. for the account that has been hacked). I have done this over 7 times. Each time, I get either no reply from Microsoft or it says I don't have enough information. It is connected to my Xbox Live account, which may have access to my credit card (I can't remember) so I need it back as soon as possible. (my gamer tag is Unamoosed).

At this point, I don't even care who hacked my account - I just need access to it so I can change the Microsoft account affiliated with my Xbox Live one.

I have information tied to the account to prove it is mine, such as contacts, recently sent e-mails, answers to security questions, and my phone number. I also have my Xbox's serial numbers and such.

I am losing days that I have paid for on Live, so I am also requesting a reimbursement for the days lost. I also can't access any of my saved games. I have literally done everything to try and get my account back, but no one seems to know what they are doing at Microsoft. So. I have been waiting since Tuesday to get back into my account.

I have given Microsoft over $300, and this is what I get. Thanks.

I am extremely aggravated with all of Microsoft right now, so if you can assist me you will have my everlasting gratitude.

If you tell me to "Please refer to the steps provided on Account Recovery Process," I will probably sigh deeply and wonder what you think that will do for me if I have tried it OVER SEVEN TIMES. THIS DOESN'T HELP ME.

Thank you for your time,

Hannah T.

Can’t login – says incorrect password but not true!

To any moderator!

I've been trying to access one of my hotmail accounts but it's saying my password isn't correct.  I haven't changed the password although the account has been inactive since linking accounts was discontinued... I'm concerned the account might have been hacked...

I have tried the 'account recovery' request twice but I can't remember all the security questions that I set ages ago or recall any folders I created as I rarely access this account.  However, I do need to get to it though and would really appreciate some personal assistance!!

Please help!

Thanks,

TheoB

Is there any way I check the progress of my account recovery request?

14. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account recovery, suspicious activity
I recently went to check my email and found that the account has been suspended for suspicious activity. Which is fair enough since i understand that they have to check or get some false alerts every now or then. I solely use the account forwarded through to Gmail so there wouldn't be much activity on it. I tried to get the recovery email sent to my alternate email account but it wasn't coming through. So I filled in the recovery request form. First one got denied so I filled out another one with as much information as I could get. This one's been going for 8 hours now. I know it says it can take up to 24 but the first one only took 2 to be denied and I have uni information coming through today and tomorrow. So it's very time sensitive. Can i find out how the request is going and if possible speed it up somehow?

The issue number is 97385852. Both times I sent a request it seemed to generate two numbers and immediately cancel the first one. I Hope that isn't an issue.

microsoft account is locked

when I try to sign into my Microsoft account it has locked me out.  i wasn't able to verify normally but i was able  verify with the account recovery process.  no matter what i do it still gives me the same response.  I need help unlocking my account.

I need to remove my security proofs from my account but i cant access my account because it is locked.  I believe this is because i did not comply within the 2 week period by updating or verifying my password and email combination.

Since my account has been verified by the account recovery process and i reset my password 3 separate times i have still been locked out of my account.  Can someone please help me unlock my account so i can update my security proofs and continue using my account.

“It looks like someone else might be using your account To help you—and only you—get back into ******@hotmail.com, we need to verify that it’s yours.”

I received this error message when trying to access my email. I have filled out the account recovery forms multiple times and have received no help. I have called microsoft at least 5x and have created a case #, however, they keep direction to fill out the account recovery or reset password forms online. However, the online account recovery and password reset do not help as whoever hacked into my account has changed information such as security questions and recovery email address. I need access to this account immediately. I have been trying to gain access and support for a week now.

This has clearly happened to numerous people as I have read in the forums. There has to be an answer to this issue.

Two hotmail accounts hacked and account recovery is not working…

10. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account recovery, Facebook, Hotmail Account
Hi

My fiancee has had her hotmail account hacked today... Unfortunately this is the second time it has happened. Last time she was unable to regain access so created a second hotmail account and now that has also been hacked. The hackers have not stopped there they have hacked her Facebook and other accounts included personal accounts.

We have tried to recover the account but this has been without success as the automated recovery system has said that we have not provided enough information. Unfortunately my partner does not use her account for sending emails but more to use to create shopping accounts, banking, facebook etc. She has also never used a card to buy or pay for anything using her hotmail account and has not created any personal folders in her hotmail account, because of all of the above i expect this is why we are being told that not enough information has been provided.

We don't want to setup another account brcause it then means having to change her email on all her amazon, ebay, Facebook, banking, phone etc. We just want to regain access to the two accounts that have been hacked.

The email addresses for the accounts are *** Email address is removed for privacy *** (The most recent account) and *** Email address is removed for privacy *** (older account)... We have contacted facebook and they have asked us to email them a copy of her passport so they can identify her and have blocked her account due to suspicious activity. Is there any way we can provide a copy of her passport to someone at microsoft so something similar can be done?

Someone potentially having access to personal information, photographs of our children etc really scares us and we want to stop it ASAP.

Hoping you can help

Regards

James and Stacie

Locked out of xbox live account linked to deleted “.edu” email address

08. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account recovery, xbox live gold
I am currently locked out of my xbox live gold account and do not know the password for the account. I signed up for xbox live ~10 years ago and used my university email. Unfortunately, after graduating 7 years ago, the account was deleted by the university and is no longer in existence. I tried to do the account recovery at https://account.live.com/password/reset, but it doesn't work and just says "accounts ending in EDU are managed by the institution's IT management." What am I supposed to do? The email address was deleted 7 years ago, I no longer attend the university. I am currently paying for xbox live gold but have been locked out for weeks. I am getting extremely frustrated, please help!!!

Account Recovery is not working

08. August 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account recovery

Hi,

My partner's account was hacked 2 days ago - she put my email down as an alternate contact to start the account recovery process. She got to the stage whereby she had to answer some questions like, what was the last email she sent/received/, any sub folders she created etc.

She answered these as best she could, but with no joy. This account is extremely important as we are expecting a baby in just over a month and there is information on her emails that we require.

She has set up a new account with Gmail - similar to her Hotmail address in case that makes a difference in authenticating her so she can get access to her hotmail account again.

Can somebody please advise?
