I set up my email to use IMAP for Outlook.com on Outlook 2011 for Mac. All has been working fine but since yesterday I keep getting the following error whilst trying to check my email
MAIL COULD NOT BE RECEIVED AT THIS TIME
The server for account xxxxxxx returned the error
Error 8: Server Error. Please try again later. Your
username/password or security settings may be
incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your
password?
I can login to my outlook account on web without a problem. I only have the problem when trying to retrive mail on my mac on outlook 2011. What is causing this problem?

I have different accounts organized in Folders in my Navigation panel, but suddenly they all started to fail. For example, my folder for Sent Items doesn´t seem to show the my sent mail in the Reading pane. If I want to look at the mail, I have to search
the name and find it. Please help!
I'm trying to add my Live.com (Outlook Web) account here to sync my Mail, Contacts and Calendar.
However, when adding an Exchange account with my details, Outlook chokes and I end up adding IMAP credentials.
Can this be done?

We are an Office 365 customer and about two weeks ago received reports of users (with Hosted Exchange mail) who were previously working correctly but spontaneously had "Updating local" displayed in the Outlook activity/status in the lower portion of the
Outlook window. These users were no longer receiving new email in their Inbox as if the (apparent) single thread that Outlook appears to use to synchronize the Inbox was busy "Updating local". For many of these situations "Updating local" either eventually
went away after a longish period of time (possibly up to two hours) or we told the user to "Empty" the Inbox cache thus forcing a redownload of their entire Inbox.
My curiosities:
1) Why did this start happening? There was no software change on the client side and although I'm sure enormous Inboxes are adding to the pain, all of these users didn't cross the same size/item count threshold at the same time.
2) Are there any mitigation options? Most users who I've walked through Emptying their Inbox cache seem ok, but would it be better/faster to tell them to wait for "Updating local" to finish?

Here is how I discovered this. I get a mail with a Windooz virus in it. My virus scan alerts me.
Next in outlook I delete the message. Empty the Outlook rubbish bin. Quit outlook.
I now happen to do a scan for viruses (we have a very slow Mac here, and just to make sure...) and the infected file is found again in: Users/user/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office Identities/username/Data Records/Message Sources/0T/0B/0M/0K/x255_666.alk14MsgSource
Why does it not delete it?
So I thought maybe a restart helps? Nope stil there. This way I discoverd files that where nuked ± a year ago. Why does it not delete these? And what is more how to delete them as this uses up the storage and only the lord knows what is stil all hanging
around in there.
Any tips? Or is this an other piece of 'brilliant' programming we need to live with?

If I install Office 2011 without updates, the "mail merge manager" in Word recognizes all my Exchange contacts. Once I install the service pack 1, the contacts from my subfolder in "mail merge manager" are no longer available. Installing the latest updates (14.2.0, 14.3.0, 14.3.9) also did not help.
Is there, except that you do not install all updates, another solution?
I do not want to work with absolutely no security updates.

I am running Mac OS X 10.9.1 with Outlook for Mac 2011 Version 14.3.9 (131030)
My normal configuration is as follows:
This is the "normal" and preferred configuration.
When I select "Send/Receive" the configuration changes to:
To go back to the normal configuration I have to exit Outlook and restart it again.
How can I get Outlook to return to the normal configuration without a complete exit and restart of the program?
Please advise.
