I am running Mac OS X 10.9.1 with Outlook for Mac 2011 Version 14.3.9 (131030)

My normal configuration is as follows:
 

This is the "normal" and preferred configuration.

When I select "Send/Receive" the configuration changes to:


To go back to the normal configuration I have to exit Outlook and restart it again.

How can I get Outlook to return to the normal configuration without a complete exit and restart of the program?

Please advise.

Installation of the modem (Zoom 5341J) yesterday was no-problem, and all works exactly as before on my Win7 (64bit) ... except Win Live Mail refuses to send any messages.  There were no software or configuration changes.  The error message is:

    The connection to the server has failed.

    Subject 'windows email test'
    Server: 'smtp.comcast.net'
    Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
    Protocol: SMTP
    Port: 25
    Secure(SSL): No
    Socket Error: 10013

 

Comcast is no help.
