After Norton removed a virus, I started having problems with Win Live Mail. It would suddenly freeze up when trying to send or reply. A couple of times I got the error message above. Don't use the Win Live calendar.
Recently installed latest Win Live mail from Microsoft site on new Win7Sp1 laptop. Fails quite often (error 0x80048849) on two Hotmail accounts (sometimes is ok) but is ok on a Bigpond & a GMail account. Also have another Win7SP1 laptop & Win Live Mail has worked fine for 2 years. (I think software on the two laptops are different versions but not sure how to find the exact version number). Any suggestions appreciated or should I uninstall current version & install an earlier version.
I recently had to uninstall McAfee Virus definitions, system mechanic and DLL-files fixer. All had become non-functional e.g. blank screen for McAfee. No evidence of virus or malware or worms etc. Probably a script error, but unable to get satisfactory resolution from companies involved. I installed MSE and later made Win Live Mail my default from Win Mail. However when I try to compose an e-mail, Win Live Mail hangs. It wont even allow task manager to close it, but requires system reboot. I have switched back to Win Mail - at least it can send e-mails! However I would like to use the added functions of the Live program. I do not wish to uninstall MSE as it is now my only Virus protection. Is there any easy fix for this. I see others have similar problems but the fixes seem scarce at best?

Any help appreciated.

I recently had to uninstall Mcafee virus definitions, system mechanic and dll-fixer because they all became non-functional. I installed Microsoft Essentials and use the virus definitions and Win firewall now. I choose to additionally activate Win Live Mail instead of my Win Mail.

Win Live Mail however hangs when I try to compose a mail message. Not much good as an e-mail program!! The hang is so bad that only a computer reboot escapes from the program.

I don't want to uninstall/reinstall Microsoft Essentials as I am using the virus definitions/firewall. This is the suggestion in some forums!

Can anyone suggest another fix?

I have reverted to Win Mail but would like the additional opportunities of Win Live Mail - if only I could get it to work (send email).

Any help appreciated!

I am running Vista 32 bit. Would upgrading to win 7 help?

In Windows Live Mail, my email provider is Road Runner and all is proper at their home mail page for  me.  When Win Live Mail

show up, I get double email messages.  What to do that is simple ?

Installation of the modem (Zoom 5341J) yesterday was no-problem, and all works exactly as before on my Win7 (64bit) ... except Win Live Mail refuses to send any messages.  There were no software or configuration changes.  The error message is:

The connection to the server has failed.

    Subject 'windows email test'
    Server: 'smtp.comcast.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
    Protocol: SMTP
    Port: 25
    Secure(SSL): No
    Socket Error: 10013

Comcast is no help.

On launching Win Live Mail the error 0x80072F19 implying it can not send or recieve from my HotMail account.  This is a overnight event/change after a normal shut down.  My other G-mail accounts are working fine.  Logging into my Hotmail outside of WIN Live works fine also.

Any thoughts??
