How do I re-index the message database in Windows Live Mail under Win 7?

I have the same problem - 950 folders 18,000 mails.

 1) You cannot drag a folder from Storage Folders>Imported Folders>local Folders>(FolderName) to a POP account's folder list. The mouse pointer indicates that you can (no "Stop" sign appearing on the mouse pointer). After the "drop" nothing happens. Using the toolbar "Copy to" icon results in an error "Cannot transfer folders between servers". Inconsistency here.  Local Folders are a "server" ????


 2) Duplicates, duplicates.

   Using Win Explorer to check the files on disk and set up new  folder C:\(user)\Mail

  In WLM change the mail store to the new folder.


  Close WLM, files are transferred. Reopen WLM.

  Check the disk appdata\local\microsoft\WLM - mail storage files still there.

  Check new location   C:\(user)\Mail - ok  but files there as well.


   As an experiment to see how WLM recovers idexes and mails -  Shut down WLM first. 

  Remove index control files (2 of them) from the disk using Windows Explorer, restart WLM. It recovers   mails and indexes - ok

  Mails now in Storage folders> Recovered>etc>etc>etc, this includes Mail accounts and their folders       too.

  None however go back to their original locations which might be folders under a POP account.


  Check the disk - Another set of duplicates appears in  C:\(user)\Mail the originals + folders duplicated, suffixed by (1) in the folder name, created by the recovery process.


  3) There is no simple mechanism to rebuild the entire folder structure from scratch by using the files in the mail folder on the disk.


  In Outlook Express all you had to do was delete Folders.dbx, restart OE and the folder list was rebuilt.

OK you didn't have separate accounts (except identities of course), but it worked, every time.


Is it possible to do something with Item 1 above ? Drag and drop folders from Storage Folders to an account folder would make our lives so much easier. Item 2 needs clarification or addressing. Addressing Item 3 is essential and should have been built in at the design stage.

Splitting deletes all clips

Using MovieMaker 2012 build 16.4.3508.0205 & Windows 8. 

I am using the right-click "split" function to chop up a clip so I can rearrange the parts back into a desired sequence.  Frequently executing a "split" causes all of the clips to disappear, leaving a blank storyboard.  "Undo" brings it all back, but from that point on any "split" causes everything to dissapear.  This seems to happen most frequently when the storyboard contains several clips (from previous "splits" of the original).  It never happens on the first "split".  Everything else seems to work fine for me, but this splitting problem is frustrating as the only recovery seems to be to start completely over.

When i am recovering my microsoft account i get a email back saying i do not have enough information to recover my account. My email is *** Email address is removed for privacy ***, and that is the email i am trying to recover.  I was told that I can post on here and a moderator would be able to access the correct information to ask me questions so that I can recover my account.

Hello:

 

My Outlook.com account rejected an email forwarded to it from a Yahoo account showing the above error message, which I guess relates to Outlook policy.

 

This was just an ordinary email containing .jpg's  of classic cars from the 50"s, nothing more.

 

This is the second time this has happened with the last week, but have not had this problem prior to that.

 

I cannot understand why it was rejected in the first place, but am concerned about it becoming a persistent problem.

 

Any help on this would be appreciated.

I deleted my mail from hotmail about 14 days ago.  How can I retreive them because I read that they do not purge it until after 30 days.

DEVICE DRIVER for HP printer

I am trying to use an "old" HP OfficeJet G85 with my relatively new Dell Inspiron. I believe I am running Windows 7 (how can I make sure when the bill of sale does not specify?).  Anyway the HP I was using needs a new Printer head so I decided to try the G85. I keep getting messages that the driver devices are not present and can not be received. I got a Windows Update error 80246008, but could not follow the instructions they were a "bit" involved for me. Please help. Thanks, ValPyg45

Cannot access my email account

I have recently tried to access my email account but when I try to it says "it looks like someone else may be using your account". I have tried to use the back up email option, but it seems that my back up email is not receiving the security link. I have also tried to answer the survey but it says I have not put enough information to get my account back, even though I filled out all my personal information. I do not send any emails other than to myself, and I have created no folders on my account, so what other information can I possibly put! I do not have a security question option, so is there any other options to retrieve my email?

unable to access my Hotmail account. i already tried to reset it but it is an old account so i don't remember any of my answers to my security questions. I filled out a form and it emailed me back to a different account saying it wasn't enough information to re access my account. i contacted tech support and they referred me to this forum. How can i access my account?

Issue with Windows Live Mail 2012 – being notified of new messages does not work

Hi,

I recently installed Windows Live Mail 2012 (Build 16.4.3508.0205) on Windows 7 32bit to retrieve my emails from Outlook.com and Gmail.  

While I find the program does the job of managing emails well, it is lacking a good notification system for new messages and the ability to have the program minimised to the tray and free up space on the taskbar like in Vista.  Why the developers of this app decide to take away the option to minimise to the tray for Windows 7 is anybody's guess.

Currently I am experiencing inconsistent behaviour with Windows Live Mail.  The issue I have is while I do get notified of new messages arriving from my Gmail account, Windows Live Mail does not notify me of new mail from my Outlook accounts as it should do!

Has anyone experienced this issue before?

How does one merge duplicate contacts (up to five of same contact) into one if contact clean up does not work?

I synced Gmail contacts with outlook a while ago, copied contacts from the personal folder into outlook.com under Hotmail and outlook.  When I tried using people/contact clean-up, not many were merged, many contacts have 5 record cards, every one has at least two.
