Windows Live Mail will not download email after Windows Essentials update

A few days ago, I got a notice that a Windows Essentials update was available. I ran the update, and Windows Live Mail 2012 became unable to download email from any of my email providers, including Comcast and Gmail. No error message - just the timeout "wait or stop" pop-up. Eventually, WLM would stop responding. I ran a system restore, and WLM is back to downloading email as expected.

I'm running Windows 8.1, although I have not yet been able to install the recent 8.1 update (another frustrating story).

Any one run into the same issue after the Essentials update, and if so, was it resolved?

Bug: new e-mail icon doesn’t dissapear

I have this little issue when I receive a new e-mail and I open it as soon as it appears on my list, before the "new email" sound is played, the new e-mail icon (on taskbar) doesn't dissapear until I restart the program.

Windows Live email will not forward original senders email.

Hello,

 We go through our morning emails and forward them to the appropriate people within our company.  On some emails the original senders' email will not forward.  This means we have to type the email address of the sender in the body of the forwarding email so the recipient does not have to call and ask for it. 

I tried to add the people to our contact list and that does not work.  Can it be how the sender's email program is set up?

Have windows live mail installed and have set every setting to plain text in the option menu  but rich text is still displayed in composing new message.

How do I have an auto 'Subject' text in Windows Live Mail 2011?

I would like to use a subject text automatically any time I write a new mail in WLM so to avoid typing any time the subject. I would appreciate if anyone could give me an idea on how to do it.

Even though in the past I have been able to send msgs to this contact, now I get the message "The message could not be sent. Some of the recipients for this message are not valid. Please verify the names."  Contact is in my contacts list, and I receive email from them all the time, but now I can't reply.  His account does have encryption, so that may be the problem.

Too Many “Crud” Folders

I imported my Outlook 2007 pst file into WLM. I now have the following folders: Deleted Items, Junk E-Mail, Trash, and Spam. I don't need all these, so I would like to do two things. I would like to assign all Trash and Spam functions to the Junk E-Mail folder. Next I would like to delete both Trash and Spam folders. On the first item, I cannot find where in WLM to assign specific folder functions. On the second item, when I try and delete either Trash or Spam folders I get the error message,"the MAPI server does not allow" either folder to be deleted. Looking for suggests on how to resolve this. Also, when I was using Outlook 2007 I did not have either 'Trash' or 'Spam' Folders. They were only added after I opened WLM.
