Hi,

My problem:
situation:  a Vista HomePremium computer could not started regularly anymore.
I could make a complete copy of the user directories. In meanwhile HDD is broken.
WLM 2011 was used under Vista. WLM 2012 will be used on new Win 8.1 computer.

question: is there a way to recover the messages, contacts, calender from  the saved WLM 2011 folders under WLM 2012?

               (...user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail )
I found somewhere here a solution for contacts on WLM  same version.
But I do not have a Vista computer available any more.
Or can this be done only by a 3rd party tool/product?

Thank you for  your help in advance.

Got a new computer, old one died.  Installed Windows Live Mail 2012.  Was using an older version on the old computer.  Copied all my old emails from my ISP's web site into WLM.  Now I'm stuck with THOUSANDS of emails I can't delete!  I can delete any new emails that I've received.  I suspect the problem might be going from POP3 to uh, whatever the four character one is called!  Any ideas?  Thank you.
Using Windows Live Mail. Currently set up to access two different email accounts. Have closed one account. Have moved all emails from the closed account to 'Storage Folders'. All the folders in the closed account are now empty. If I right click and Remove the closed account from WLM, does the closed account disappear from WLM and the moved emails stay in the Storage Folders? All ideas, suggestions, comments will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K.
Does anyone know why my blackberry is deleting my WLM contacts?  I have sync'd numerous times.  My contacts are now all on my phone, but I can't figure how to get them back on WLM.  Whenever I add a contact in WLM, it creates a duplicate contact on my phone, and it seems to confuse my bb.  I have posted in Blackberry's forum as well, and nothing.  Thanks

I've been having a huge problem and even the technical support guys I use are stumped!

I have a calendar in Windows Live that has always sync'd with my calendar on my iPhone-apparently because the calendar on my phone was set up as an Exchange account/calendar. I am now using Outlook for Mac and we can't get the calendar to sync with either the phone or WLM calendar. However, Apple have advised that if I can get Outlook on my Windows Vista machine (the one I use WLM on) I can then sign into my ??? (icloud or exchange account)?..go to icloud control panel and somehow sync them. Basically, the calendar that I want is sitting under my Exchange (heading) on my iPhone-I need it to sit under "icloud".

I don't mind not being able to use the calendar in Outlook (if it doesn't sync with anything)-I understand Outlook for Windows does more stuff than Outlook for Mac)? but I'd like to be able to access my (current) Exchange calendar on www.icloud.com so that I can start to use that calendar so that I can have access to my calendar on both my Mac and Windows PC.

Does anyone know what I am talking about:). If yes, you are a star!

I have yet to explain to my tech guys what Apple have advised and hope they understand. They were thinking I might have to rely on using my Windows Live calendar (via the "Live" website) on both computers but I really don't like that website; it's not as user friendly or smooth-operating as the icloud.

If you know what I am on about and can break down what I need to do step by step, I'd be grateful!

After losing a number of contacts on my phone recently, I was able to recover a backup of some vcf files to restore into Windows Live Mail to sync and merge the missing contact data. Unfortunately, I've run into problems with WLM not reading the address component of the vcf files correctly and as such I am unable to bulk recover missing address data.

An example of a vcf file and how WLM interprets it incorrectly is below:

BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
FN;CHARSET=utf-8;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
N;CHARSET=utf-8;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:FakeSurname;RealFirstName;;;;
TITLE;CHARSET=utf-8;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
BDAY:01/01/0001 00:00:00
ADR;CHARSET=utf-8;TYPE=WORK;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:250 Fowl Lane;Melbo=
urne;;3124
ADR;CHARSET=utf-8;TYPE=HOME;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:4/80 Marge Rd;Fawn=
egie;;3111
EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:*** Email address is removed for privacy ***
EMAIL;TYPE=INTERNET:*** Email address is removed for privacy ***
TEL;TYPE=HOME:123456789
TEL;TYPE=CELL:+8214558745
ORG;CHARSET=utf-8;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
NOTE;CHARSET=utf-8;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
END:VCARD

Everything appears to be importing ok except the address is being imported to the wrong containers. Using this vcf, the home "suburb/city" Fawnegie is read as the street address, and the "post code" 3111 is read as the city. No other information about the address is imported. As for the work address, only the postcode is read, and ends up displaying as the city as well. I'm sure you can copy the above and test it yourself to confirm.

Is there a batch fix I can apply to my vcf files to get them to import correctly? Otherwise I need to go through 600+ contacts manually to confirm the correct address.

Regards,

jt

I get the following message:

A time-out occurred while communicating with the server.

Subject 'Time out test'
Server: 'mobile.charter.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC19
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 587
Secure(SSL): Yes

The IMAP server at mobile.charter.net works OK. The SMTP server works fine with Thunderbird. It worked for several months with WLM until recently, the last couple weeks. It was failing at home where the ISP is Charter and away where the ISP is Comcast.

I'm ready to export all my local folders to Thunderbird and uninstall WLM. I tried uninstalling WLM, hiding its data that's in the AppData folder and reinstalling. It still times out.

I checked  other posts with the same problem from 2 or 3 years ago and there was never a possible solution.

I am having problems with WLM 2012 as far as the colors on the top..they're white and it hurts my eyes. Also problems with the font not staying locked in when I'm composing an email. Plus, when I log in in the morning the WLM icon is missing from the Task bar...thank you.

ANYONE THERE?

I want to clean up my WLM contacts online, because when I try to do it within the desktop WLM every time I delete a contact it jumps back to the top of the list. Painful. BUT when I click Contacts and then click Clean Up Contacts on the top ribbon I get a message saying I is the wrong web page, or the page has disappeared. I tried going to Control Panel/Programs and Features and double clicking Windows Live Essentials to repair WLM but there is no repair button. Instead it proposes deleting WLM (in fact the whole of Essentials) and reinstalling. I am afraid if I do this the new installed WLM will not recognise my old folders and will be blank. Solutions?

Here is my problem.

I have almost 25000 emails in my gmail account that i sync with my WLM. So I ended up with this massive email folder on my computer that is over 8gb and slows down any scans (virus, searches etc.)

I just want to keep my WLM current, like the last week.

How can I delete all my old  emails from my WLM and still keep them in my gmail? Everytime I delete something it automatically syncs the delete on my gmail. And of course, when i do this I do not want it to be re synced.

Any advice?

Thanks in advanced!
