I am using Windows 7.  The Windows Essentials download set up leads successfully to the install page.  The install is instantaneous and "successful."  First issue:  there is no Photo Gallery to be found anywhere on my computer.  Second Issue:  When I try to open Windows Live Mail, the window says the WLDCORE.dll is missing.  I have done the following from instructions I found in the Community:

1. Perform Windows Update
2. Uninstall Essentials by following the steps within this
link.

3. Delete the following files for a clean installation:

    For 32 bit

    C:\Program Files\Windows Live

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows Live

    For 64 bit

    C:\Program Files(x86)\Windows Live

    C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Windows Live

4. Disable firewall (Note that disabling the firewall makes your computer prone to virus attack. We suggest that you only visit the websites below and enable your firewall after installation is done).

5. Reset browser to factory settings.

6. Reinstall Windows Essentials:

Windows Essentials 2012 (for Windows 7 and Windows 8)

Windows Essentials 2011 (for Windows Vista and Windows 7)

Can anyone offer any additional assistance with this matter?

I get really sich of this.

For months now I can't reach my mail with Windows Live Mail.

Looking for a solution I find a message about Windows Update not working?!?!

What has synchronizing my mail with Windows Update to do??

Also, I read similar problems with other error-codes and this is going on for years !!

Microsoft, write a decent WORKING e-mail program.

I am not far from switching to gmail which works EVERYWHERE: webmail, PC, phone...EVERYWHERE.

And a NORMAL addressbook, not one where I have duplicate contacts, contacts which I cannot delete.

Oh, and I didn't even mention the crappy Calandar....

Sigh...

I am running Windows Live Mail 2012 on a Windows 7 PC with a serious problem.  Every time I open the program the Windows Installer goes through a new install which takes about 2 minutes to complete.  Then the programs opens and functions normally.  Has anyone seen this happen before ?

I am also unable to update Security Essentials and Windows Update on this PC as well.  I don't believe the two are related.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.  thanks

I have a Windows 7 computer upgraded to windows 8.1 and all was working well until I installed update KB2919355.  I can put my computer to sleep, but when I click the space bar the power light briefly turns from orange to the familiar blue and then shuts down completely.  I restored to an earlier date and confirmed I could successfully wake it from sleep.  I then installed only the aforementioned update and the problem resurfaced.  I hope I am not the only one and a fix will be available.  Meanwhile I am trying my best to insure this update does not get installed.

Thank you.

I am currently running Windows 7 & using Windows Live Mail 2011 as my e-mail. I know there is a version 2012 available, but I have never received a notice to update. I ran Windows Update manually, but it doesn't indicate that I have any updates available. I'm not sure what, if anything, is the difference between the two or if it's worth updating, but if so, how can I update just Windows Live Mail w/o having to update Windows Live Essentials?

An MS Essentials 2012 update showed up as a tray icon.  Why didn't it come through Windows Update?

Been cursed with a really nagging problem for over two years now even though I subscribe to Ad-free Outlook for over a decade (problem started with Hotmail Plus). I cannot send nor forward emails with more than 4 attachments, which is extremely frustrating.

I have tried different computers and browsers, updated Silverlight and checked for more Windows Update, the problem never gets fixed so I assumed it has to do with my account. Can somebody do something about this? I've seen many people having the same issue on many forums. Last year, the problem was solved for a week after I escalated and came back right away (I also had publicity displayed even though I had a paid account).

Dear  Blank Blank,
We have receive the sceenshots you provided. As of now, we have not receive any updates but as soon as we obtain any information we will get back to you.
Sincerely,
Windows Live Hotmail Plus - Escalations Team

We have IE 9, a Vista 32 bit, home premium PC with SP2, Office 2010 professional, and Windows Live Mail 2011.   Whenever an e-mail has a link for further information or explanation, Click on the link and it opens a link in Word.  Often a DOS file.  It always used to link correctly, but we did the update via Windows Update for Windows Live Mail 2011 and the Repair for Windows Live Mail from the Control Panel.  That had no effect on the problem.

We reset the IE 9 settings and after rebooting, that had no effect.  We checked the settings on Office 2010 Pro, and those likewise are set to standard. There are no other software or program changes on the PC for some time.

Any education is appreciated.

Does Windows Live Essentials, in particular Windows Live Mail, receive updates via Windows Update?

If not - why not? And how can I tell?

I have Windows Live Mail Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3508.0205)

This may seem like a silly question - but - inquiring minds want to know!

I just ran Windows Update. It's still showing Windows Live Essentials as an available download. Is the Windows Live Mail that is included as part of the Windows Live Essentials package useable, or did Outlook.com make it obsolete just like it did Hotmail?
