Windows Live Mail is displaying all messages in all folders as an attachment rather than showing the message itself. In order to view the message text, you have to open the attachment. It is also forwarding replies to messages as an attachment.

windows live mail displayed o.k. using windows 7. With windows 8, the e-mail display is too far to the right - losing part of e-mail detail.

Unable to locate the e-mail display to the left where it should be. How do I correct?

Unable to add and outlook.com to Windows Live Mail 2012. I was getting delta sync issues before. Ran through the troubleshooting steps of adding and removing account. Reinstalling Windows Live 2012. I have gotten to the point where I have rebuilt the Windows 7 from scratch and just installed Windows Live Mail and still unable to do a send/receive to look at outlook.com emails. I was able to receive email via the account a month ago. I am able to sign into the web interface of outlook.com. Any suggestions?

I have looked through many posts and see that others have had this problem, I can receive but not send email.  I have tried many of the suggestions from this site and others but no luck.  Here is the full text of the error message:

An unknown error has occurred.

Subject 'test'
Server Error: 421
Server Response: 421
Server: 'smtp.comcast.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC67
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): Yes

Depending on the suggestion I was trying, the last line sometimes changed to Secure(SSL): No
Does this make sense to anyone out there?

Thank you.

My windows live mail keeps showing updating calendar and it is not sending nor receiving emails.

Following situation!!

I have an email address on my own domain!

*** Email address is removed for privacy ***

Following ERROR MESSAGE I revieve:

-----------------------------
The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for '*** Email address is removed for privacy ***', please contact your email service provider.

Protocol: SMTP
Port: 587
Secure(SSL): Yes
------------------------------

I use Windows live mail 2012
It worked all the time until the service provider changed some things on the mail server.

They want now that the outgoing SMTP Port is using 587 TLS
But Windows Live Mail 2012 doesn't allow to use TLS - only SSL is available!!

I tried all what may be possible, but nothing works!

Now I tried to configure OUTLOOK 2010 ....

and here it works to send emails!!

This are the configurations in OUTLOOK 2010:

Incoming (IMAP) - 993 - SSL

und
Outgoing (SMTP) - 587 - TLS

THIS IS WORKING IN OUTLOOK!!

HOW CAN I FORCE WINDOWS LIVE MAIL TO USE TLS???

If I change to OUTLOOK, then I have to download again all EMAILS!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Since yesterday evening (around 8PM CEST) I noticed I am unable to sync any of the Microsoft accounts I had registered in Windows Live Mail. In case it is relevant around that time I sent (or tried anyway) to send an email from a Hotmail account but I found later that the email was stuck in the Outbox (regular text email, no attachments).

Since none of the Microsoft accounts were able to sync I though it could be something on your side, so I didn't pay much attention. This morning I was presented with the same error message, so I take it the problem is here.

Up to now the only way I could add Microsoft accounts to WLM and be able to read and send emails is going through POP3, but that's not a solution when I want to use the calendar as well since the calendars are not synced to the ones in the primary account for example.

Reading several threads I've tried the following things without success:
 - Remove and add again 1 such account.
 - Uninstall WLM and install again.
 - Uninstall, delete all traces of it (in %AppData%, %LocalAppData% and the registry); install again and add a Microsoft account.
 - Reset Internet options (Internet Properties->Advanced->Reset...).
 - Disable checking for certificate revocations.
 - Flush DNS resolver cache, change to a different DNS server.

Now I have it installed with one Microsoft account so I can perform any tests necessary. The machine is a 64-bit Windows 7 Professional and I'm connected to the internet via a router, not going through proxies.

I've enabled logging and uploaded a log in case that helps too, it's here: http://pastebin.com/MQrVSrw9
