I suddenly lost the ability to print from my "Windows Live Mail" and would like to do a repair. I do not want to reinstall. All the usual ways of doing a WLEssentials repair have disappeared. In Control Panel, >Uninstall/Change no longer offers the option to choose between Uninstall and Repair. or to choose which WLEssentils you want to select. All I get is Uninstall for the entire WindowsLiveEssentials, and if clicked, it goes straight into uninstalling without even allowing you to choose which element(s) you want. The same thing happens if I double-click on wlarp.exe--it only offers Uninstall--no repair option.

How can I get back my REPAIR--NOT UNINSTALL--option for "Windows Live Mail"?

Any other suggestions for repairing sudden loss of ability to print from "Windows Live Mail" (neither from the "Windows Live Mail" menu nor from the indivual email's menu) would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Janet

My notebook's HDD was found down last weekend and the technican replaced a new HDD and the Windows 7 was re-loaded.

The new HDD loaded with Windows Live Mail 2012 and received e-mails from server.

The latest back up for my old HDD was mid of July with the folder copied from : user/UserName/AppData/LocalMicrosoft/Windows Live Mail, and Windows Live Mail version was 2011.

How to intergate the two sets of mails in my new Windows Live Mail, i.e. the back-up mails in mid of July and the mails just received ?

How to get the contacts from my backup, was it also in the folder I copied ?

Is it the right way to back up the mails by copying from the above mentioned folder ?

Thanks,

Original title: Cannot send email in Windows Live Mail in Windows 8

I can access Windows Live mail direct from my keyboard - How do I change that to Outlook

I recently upgraded to Windows 8 and installed Windows Live Mail as my email client. I set up 3 email accounts within it. As I have an SSD with limited space I followed the instructions given in several on-line tutorials to re-locate the Mail Store folder. I re-named the old one Windows Live Mailstore .old. My new mailstore folder has my initials after it to remind me that it's the new one.
Every time I open the program, there is no mail in any of the three accounts. It all starts to then download, which takes a long time. The window says checking new email, but the messages are not new, just the ones in the mail store. My Gmail account, which is I note set up as imap, rather than pop3 which the other two are, does not download any message, but rather a message which says:
WLM needs to download the folders before you can read the messages ... Click to download
I wanted to use WLM as it has a nice simple interface, but I'm afraid I'll have to abandon it in favour of Outlook unless someone can suggest what's going wrong.
Also I should add that it does seem to be having trouble with the path to the new Store folder which it says it has to rebuild at each start up. There's a lot of mail and it isn't going to be possible to keep the store on the SSD. Why is it having so much trouble with his?

I have downloaded window live essentials last week for my packard bell laptop as i use windows live mail to manage various personal and work email accounts.

was all working fine until yesterday when i went to reply to and email and forward emails and I get this message:

"A problem occurred while trying to open this message.

A problem occurred. Please try again"

I have tried to uninstall windows live essentials and this will not allow me to do so.  I have tried to reinstall windows live essentials and also not won't do this either. keep getting error message.

HI. Pulling my hair out here.
Windows Live Mail (v11) suddenly refused to open, after working fine for over a year. It just sits at the opening screen with the circle and says starting. In task manager, wlmail.exe is open under processes, but not under applications. Have tried the following:

• set mail to offline in IE
• went to control panel and fixed Live Essentials and rebooted.
• removed all messages from the mail folder
• updated all Windows updates
• installed Live Mail 2012
• fixed Live Essentials again
• MS checked authencity etc - all ok
• ran fixkey.reg as per one of your support pages
• fixed live essential again
• Switched off the router and tried offline.... the same
Still would not open from my workplace, but it did open when I was home (no internet/network at home).
• then copied mail back and it would not open again
• fixed live essentials again
STILL WILL NOT OPEN

WHAT MORE CAN I DO ..... PLEEEEEEEEZE???
