Hi,

Issue:

"Windows Live Mail could not be started. It may not be installed correctly. Make sure that your disk is not full or that you are not out of memory. (0x80041161)"

I understand that this problem had been posted before, however I have tried and gone through a couple of solutions but it doesn't seem to work (see below for solutions that were unsuccessful). It was working perfectly fine the day before and this just happened.

Appreciate any help or suggestions! Thank you!

I've tried the following series of solutions but none seem to work:

1. services.msc --> Windows Live ID Sign-In Assistant --> Automatic

Unable to start the service --> error message: Windows could not start Windows Live Sign-In Assistant on Local computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

2. Programs --> Windows Live Essentials 2011 --> Double Click

No response when double clicked.

3. Regedit --> Windows Live Mail registry --> Exported back up, deleted existing and restart WLM

Same error message --> WLM could not be started......

4. Ran MS Security Essentials --> no threats found

5. Re-install WLM from microsoft website --> wlsestup-web.exe

Error message "C:\Windows\system32\wer.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support"

Many thanks,

Daphne

Windows Live Mail has recently stopped sending e-mails, leaving them in the Outbox. I receive the following error message every time.

An unknown error has occurred.

Subject 'Test'
Server: 'smtp.ox.ac.uk'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0B
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): Yes

Following advice I have found elsewhere, I have tried:

  • changing the outgoing port from 25 to 465
  • changing the outgoing port from 25 to 587
  • repairing Windows Live Mail
  • removing and the reinstalling my account
  • checking that the "my server requires authentication" box is ticked

All this has been to no avail.

Any further suggestions much appreciated.

( I have all my Win 7 updates applied. )

My Windows Live Mail - Calendar app on my Win 7 PC was working fine.

I had updated my Outlook.com calendar, connected my local Windows Live Mail app calendar, & later found that my local calendar had been sync'ed with the web.

I could then add an entry in my local app calendar & soon see it sync'd to my Outlook.com web calendar.

I would also receive an email notification of new/changed/deleted calendar entries.

These expected behaviors lasted a few weeks.

Starting today May 19, 2014, my calendar app is unable to sync with the online calendar.

I am still able to receive mail.

When I switch to the calendar, at the bottom, to the left of "Working online", it constantly flashes "Updating calendar..." alternating with "You calendar has ???".

The alternating text flashes very quickly, and the ??? portion is hidden behind "Updating calendar".

Clicking on the icon to the right of the flashing text causes a very brief pop-up window to appear in the middle of the calendar, appearing to say that the task "Update all calendar events" Completed successfully.

The the text continues to alternate/flash, and the events that I added and changed in the locap app have not been updated in my Outlook.Com calendar.

If I switch to the app mail view, the flashing calendar text continues, until I am able to interrupt it by repeatedly clicking Send/Receive.

( Apparently the calendar update error loop interferes with mail update, at least until a mail update is successful.

So I think Windows Live Mail - Calendar on Win 7 has broken.

Note ... other than MSE updates, my last Win 7 update was May 14 and was successful.

So calendar was working with my currently installed updates.

Someone please advise.

Thanks, John

For some reason Windows Live Mail marks some email messages as ***SPAM***.  Some of those message ARE, I agree, indeed spam, but I consider some of the emails that WLM marks as spam NOT to be so.  How do I (or CAN I even) tell WLM that a given message that it (WLM) has marked as spam is NOT, in fact, spam?

It is rather irritating to have the software deciding for me what is/isn't spam - especially when I consider certain messages not to spam.  Other than that I don't really have a problem with WLM as my email client.

Can anybody out there help me?

Running Windows Live Mail Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3538.0513) under Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1

I have just completed a clean W7 reinstall. I backed up my Windows Live Mail messages (approximately 2.5gb) to a external hard drive and imported then back into a newly installed WLM. Unfortunately the email messages now have become corrupted.

The message headers appear to be correct, but the body of each message contains exactly the same text/message in each email. Is there a way to recover or correct this issue.

Phil

I placed a order from QVC in my QVC folder and upon reading the email order 30 minutes later it displayed an email from AARP???HELP

Using Windows 8 and Windows Live Mail 2012 which was working fine for one brief period. However, now it keeps asking for my password when sending or receiving email. The password has been entered in the account configuration and Remember Password has been checked.

Here is the complete error message received:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Cindy account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.

Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR syntax error
Server: 'pop.earthlink.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No

I have researched this problem ad nauseum online and found nothing even remotely resembling a solution, and nothing specifically for the Windows 8 platform, if that is a consideration.

Any helpful suggestions beyond checking my configurations (for the hundredth time) or deleting the email account and re-adding it (also tried multiple times) would be appreciated. By that I mean to say, an actual resolution.

An additional though - it is not my anti-virus email scanner as I do not even have the capability of scanning my email with the setup I have.

Thank you!

Original title: Windows Live Mail Won't Remember eMail Password

I have three Hotmail email addresses but because I didn't need to use passwords recently when opening Windows live they have been forgotten.

I made a change and now read my hotmail through Gmail but for reasons unknown Gmail is now unable to access pop accounts and require the passwords.

Can you please advise how I can reset new passwords for all hotmail accounts I assume from within Windows live mail. Thanks in advance for your help
