I was excited yesterday when I got the news that outlook.com (former Hotmail) has added IMAP support. Then I configured my email clients (Mac Mail, Outlook for Mac 2013 and Windows Live Mail) using IMAP. Unfortunately none of them worked. They all showed errors like "time out" or simply stopped responding. After trying several times, I noticed the folder list has been downloaded. Then I clicked the "hide/show folder" button. At that time (yesterday afternoon) the functionality was available. Today I checked my Hotmail account configured using Exchange protocol (the default protocol) in Windows Live Mail and found the "sent" and "deleted" folder disappeared. I think that's because I hided those folder yesterday on the IMAP configuration. So I sought to recover them and then realized the functionality is no longer available. So I have no way to get my folder back.
Why was the "show/hide folder" function was available yesterday, but now has been taken off? If it's still in beta phase, why made it available to public? Now I have the trouble getting my email folders displayed in my Windows Live Mail using exchange protocol. I wonder if anyone has noticed or experienced this problem.
Thanks!
Until today i was using outlook mail and WLM (windows live mail) with POP3 and the mail in Greek were appearing OK.
Since today that i switched to IMAP , if the Subject is in Greek, on WLM the mail is appearing with ??? .
If i open the mail or see it in preview both the title and the subject are appearing OK.
I have checked the encoding and the fonts on WLM and it's ok (Greek)
Have tried it on Windows 8 and Windows 7 and it's the same problem.
Any info ?
Thanks in advance for your help ,
Dimitris

Suddenly I became unable to send/receive email of my hotmail accounts on Windows Live Mail that I am using since it became impossible to use Outlook Express for Hotmail accounts.
I am using Windows 7 and IE 9.
Using the web for email is totally not comfortable.
Looking forward to get your support.

Hi
I have the following error occur every time I try to send an email from my windows Live mail.
The message could not be sent. The setting for your outgoing email [SMTP] server might need to be configured. To find the server settings for [removed for privacy], please contact your email service provider.
Subject 'test'
Server Error: 550
Server Response: 550 5.1.1 <[removed for privacy]> Blacklisted by Spamhaus: http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=109.79.25.120";
Server: 'mail1.eircom.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC79
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
I think it must be related to my windows firewall settings but there are so many of them I haven't a clue where to start changing any of them. Does anyone know what I should do.
Thanks
With these new updates two days ago, now I can't open a .docx document in Windows Live Mail. With security on, it says "Prohibited File Type"; with security off, it says "The Microsoft product necessary to open this file is not installed on your computer." I use Microsoft WordStarter and never had a problem opening a .docx attachment in Windows Live Mail before. What is going on? Is there a fix other than having to buy a new Word program?

I'm having problems with my e-mail. I went into my e-mail, then account, then properties, then server and changed my password. Ever since then the only way I can get my e-mail is through road runner. I can send find, just not receive. Whenever I go into my e-mail icon and error message pops up, Windows Live Mail couldn't log on to the email server using authenticated POP (APOP). Contact your email provider and verify that it supports authenticated POP. Error ID: 0x80004005 and than I got ox800CCC90 . All I changed was password. I never had any other place that I put a password into. Bright House was not help. I keep getting the run around. Please help !
