After reinstalling Windows 7 on my computer now I can't setup Windows Live Mail again.  Searching online just sends me to a new Outlook online service.  I'm OK with switching, but where is my Live Mail contacts and mail?  Can I get my Live Mail content back?

Also, if I have to switch to Outlook.com, how do I set it up?  I don't see a way to input my mail settings so I can continue to use my current Comcast e-mail address, like I did with Windows Live Mail?

Hi Everyone,
I have 12 computers in my network, all using Windows Live Mail to send and receive emails with same set of email accounts configured on each computer. Instead of getting each computer receiving email from internet, I want to have a centralized email storage network location, where one computer will be syncing to server and storing all emails to that location and all other computers connected to the same location. This is beneficial because:
  • I will be having a local copy of all the emails in one location.
  • Emails will be downloaded once, and in case adding or replacing a new PC, there will be no need to download all emails again, hence reducing bandwidth usage both on user end and email server end.
I would appreciate if someone would come up with a solution or an alternative AT NO EXTRA COST!

Looking forward to hear from you all...

All my e-mails don't come through, but they do come through on my old computer (XP).  What can I do to correct this?

Hi,

I've been asked by a Forum Moderator to create a new topic about this issue. I previously wrote about it in this thread and gave extra details about the accounts and settings i used via private message to moderators.

I have an Outlook.com account since a few days ago and I tried to add my Yahoo Mail Plus account to it. I get the error message "Check your email address and password, but the problem may be that Yahoo! requires you to subscribe to Yahoo! Mail Plus." no matter what settings and details I use.

Additional information:
1. I can get my Yahoo Mail e-mails on a laptop running Windows 7 in the Windows Live Mail desktop app AND on a tablet running Windows 8.1 in the Mail app. Everythings syncs and I'm happy with them. Can't get it to work only in Outlook.com. I've set up the laptop and tablet this week also. Until now I was only using the browser version of Yahoo Mail but this week I decided to move everything to Outlook/Microsoft.
2. My Outlook.com username (before the @outlook.com) is different from my Yahoo Mail username. Some users mentioned this might be the problem. It isn't.
3. I tried with a primary alias @live.com, @outlook.com, @hotmail.com for my Outlook.com account. Didn't solve the problem.
4. I tried with the standard settings which autocomplete in outlook.com when you try to add an account (pop.mail.yahoo, smtp.mail.yahoo) but also with other settings which work elsewhere (plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com and plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com which work for Windows Live Mail on a Windows 7 laptop and winmetro.pop.mail.yahoo.com - which works in the Mail app of Windows 8 on a tablet).
5. Tried in IE and Chrome.
6. I don't think this matters to my issue but it's some information Microsoft should consider: Last week, Yahoo Mail made some changes to its accounts and now everyone has free POP access, even if they don't pay for the Plus account. In fact there's no "Plus" account anymore. You can either have a Yahoo Mail account (with free POP access) or a Yahoo Ad-free account for some $$$. So alerts in Windows Live Mail and any other support info about needing to have a Plus account should disappear.

Hope you can find where the problem is !

from one day to the next, the junk mail folder goes missing; this has happened three times; no error code, no message, just no junk folder
Suddenly yesterday my Windows Live Mail (WLM) system has frozen and keeps requesting my user name and password which i submit but it just keeps asking me again and again and yet i have been using WLM for many years without being asked for this info and have certainly not changed it??

I use the windows live mail client that was included in windows live essentials.  Now that I've upgraded my O/S from windows 8 to 8.1, I am noticing that some emails are not showing the content properly in the viewing area.  In other words, the email appears blank.  However, if I read the email using the windows 8.1 mail program, I can see the email fine.  Bottom line, what the heck happened to windows live mail program?  Is this not supported in 8.1 or is this a bug?

I prefer to use the Windows Live Mail format, not outlook, but am running Windows 7 on my laptop.  I found and installed Windows Essentials with Live Mail 2012.  My main folders all seem to be there, but my sub-folders are missing, along with their content.  Anyone out there have a solution??
AT&T is changing my DSL service and suddenly I have no more folders in Windows Live Mail.  I have all of my messages, etc., but no folders and I don't see any way to get them back.  In the View options there is a little red square at Folders but this doesn't do anything.   As shown on the screen shot, Feeds (which I never use) display on the left but none of my many folders.  Can anyone help please?
