Tried everything I know how to do, then had my remote computer tech support try to fix and nothing! All my other MSN accounts work just fine. this is only happening in Windows Live Essentials 2012 and Outlook 2007.  I can get emails on my cell phone, and by signing in directly to live. com. This started happening after I had to change my password due to a hacker sending bogus emails to all of my contacts.

Already tried to repair Windows Live, says it fixed but still nothing. Set my clock back asnd it let me get my emails and then set back to correct time, it worked for a short while then went right back to giving me this error code. Any help on how to fix would be appreciated.

Thank you, Smittychat. I followed the link and was "told" that Messenger is no longer available or supported; however, it does come with Windows Live Mail via Windows Live Essentials. Now it rears its ugly head every time the computer's booted.

This is not good. BTW, I said the same when asked why I didn't find the link helpful. :)

I know this is a common discussion around here, but I am unable to use Windows Live  Essentials Movie Maker- it crashes as soon as the program opens.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, adding new codecs, updating drivers, using different compatibility versions, etc.- but nothing works!

Any help anyone might have would be heavenly.

Cheers!

Just started getting this error in Windows Live Essentials 2012, have removed and re-added the account.  I am able to logon through web site.  Please help!

Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800488EB

I have a Vista desktop. I also have a Windows 7 laptop. My Vista came with Windows Mail, which I have loved. I paid someone to install Windows Mail on my new laptop with Windows 7.

However, with the last update I got from Windows, something has happened that kind of ruined my Windows Mail. All illustrations and such do not come through and someone tried to explain to me that anything with coding, etc., will not download.

So now I am looking for an email program to use and I prefer a desktop program. From what I've Googled, Windows Live Mail is a desktop program. But then there is something called Windows Live Essentials and I don't know if that is just an add on to Windows Live Mail ... or what!

I have a LOT of folders and keep a lot of important documents, which I copy to an external hard drive. I want an email program where I can continue to do this.

I had downloaded Windows Live Mail 2011 from this site: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29224

It was my intention to install this on my Vista machine, but then I got confused and decided I'd better talk to someone first, because in clicking on another link, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/essentials-other#essentials=overviewvista, it states that Windows Live Essentials is no long available for download for Windows Vista.

Basically I am just plain lost on this email stuff and I'd sure like some clarification and help. So I'm thanking anyone who will take me on and set me straight.

I have Windows 8.1 and hate the mail app.  I finally got the Outlook.com/Hotmail.com/Live.com web mail configured to get all of my e mail in one place, but I find the web mail very disappointing after being used to the Windows Live Mail program that I had on my Vista Laptop.  I downloaded Windows Live Essentials expecting to get the Windows Live Mail that I knew and loved, but found that it was not the same.

Is there a way to get the older version of Windows Live Mail that will work on my Windows 8.1 OS??

For some strange reason today I cannot send messages from my WLM 2012.  When I click send, I can see the progression of "connecting" followed by "Authorizing" and then I get "Error".  The error box only indicates "failed", nothing more.  I can receive e-mails.  I'm using Windows 7.  The configuration looks correct and I tried the repair option in the control panel for Windows Live Essentials.  I can't solve this one.  Help !!!
Just installed latest windows live essentials 2012 update.  Now windows live mail won't connect with Comcast servers.  What's changed?  Do I need to use different ports? different account settings?

I inadvertantly updated windows live essentials and now it has taken oput my windows live mail programe. Can anyone help me get it back please.

I wasn't aware that I had Windows Live Essentials on my computer so why this message suddenty popped up to upgrade it I don't know.

I volunteer for a seniors computer class.  We have upgraded the computers to Windows 7 and Windows 8.  We are trying to download Windows Live Essentials and Windows Securities so that our students understand how to use these products however we cannot download Essentials.  As soon as the download gets to 41% it stops.  We have tried to force the download and can only get 39% to download. We prefer to use these products and encourage the students to use them.
