There is only 1 thing worse than Windows 8 and that is Family Safety in Windows 8.  I have set this up so many times and it works for a day or so and the next thing I know my son is up half the night playing on his new laptop because the time limits or curfew did not work.  I have read all sorts of forums and tried numerous things but still cannot get it to stick.  Here is a list from memory what I have tried already -

  • Deleted the "corrupted" files in the Family Safety folder
  • Added a MS account for me, the parent to monitor
  • Turned FS off and then back on
  • Accessed from website on other computer (this was great when it did work.  My son would call me at work and ask for a little more time and I could grant it without giving up my password.)
  • I have read that I can "refresh" the FS program manually by clicking on some icon in the upper right corner but have yet to find that button.

Can someone provide a step by step process to make this work properly.  Although I could not access remotely and only had curfew hours available on Win 7, at least it worked.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I purchased a new computer with Windows 8 on it 2 weeks ago. Every time I open Mail I don't see any Home Ribbons or any ribbons available to me. I purchased a magazine yesterday  "Windows 8 The Essential Manual" where on page 121 it clearly shows a screen shot of Mail with the ribbons available.  Presently I am unable to access the Send/Receive button, forward buttons or any other button that were available in Windows 7.

Have Windows 8.  Got Windows Live mail because I prefer this one to Mail from Windows 8.  My problem is when I respond back on a e-mail the response goes thru Mail instead of Windows Live Mail.  Windows Live Mail got more feature than Mail from Windows 8 Start Screen.  My Windows Live Mail is install thru the desktop.  I can receive and send e-mail.  Only when I hit reply does it goes thru Windows 8 Mail.  Any way to stop this behaviour?

Hi, I was using Outlook 2011 on my Macbook Pro Retina.  Now, for work, I need to use a Windows 8 touchscreen desktop.  I have a desktop, and I have just purchased Windows 365 for it.  Several months ago, I seamlessly transferred all my old email and calendar files from a Windows computer to the Mac.  Now, however, I can find no way to get the Mac Outlook files onto my new Windows 8 desktop.  I tried downloading one of those converters, but it doesn't list Windows 8 as being compatible, and the free trial didn't seem to work, as no emails were imported...Please help.  I'm getting way behind in work and I need to get this taken care of ASAP.  Thanks.

I have a few Questions to ask about windows 7 and windows 8

Am on windows 7 home premium an di has to use windows live mail client(Witch I don't like cause it's old 2012 released) anways

Question 1. For the people that are still on windows XP Vista And 7 are We gonna get a windows essential 2013 or 2014 With Outlook from windows 8 on to other version of windows(Vista and 7

Question 2.  is Microsoft planning on releasing it for other versions of windows (vista and 7) ?

or are we gonna be stuck with windows Live stuff still we are force or has to Upgrade to windows 8 ?

The Windows 8 installed Microsoft Mail program is an inferior product compared to  Outlook (formerly Hotmail). I started using Hotmail(now Outlook) instead of Microsoft Mail as soon as I upgraded to Pavilion 23 Windows 8. Outlook is easy to navigate, familiar and has visual clarity , whereas Microsoft mail does not. Also, I need to delete the same mail from both programs which is unhandy . Can I uninstall Microsoft Mail from my PC without harming or jeopardizing either my PC or my mail flow ?
Just upgraded to Windows 8 and re-installed Windows Live Mail and cannot find Options in order to add a signature
