Movie Maker does not recognize the USB video capture device

Hello,


I have a Dazzle DVC100 video capture device with a camera connected to it. The device is connected to the computer via USB2.0.

The video device is shown in the Device Manager and Skype can use it as a camera.

Movie Maker does not see this device.

How can I find what is wrong?

I am using 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium.

This is my first attempt at using the Movie Maker that came with my Windows 8 computer.
I have a .mpg file that I created using a video capture device to get the file from a VHS machine.
The file is visible with other software, but when I load it into Movie Maker, I get the audio, but the video is black.

Just for test purposes, I tried loading a .wmv and a .mp4 file, and they both work.

What's the problem with the .mpg?
I'd really like to work with it without have to run it through a conversion program (I'm afraid it will be degraded beyond its VHS quality).

UPDATE:   I found another .mpg file on my system that came with the computer (nature.mpg).
I works.  Seems that it's just the file from the VHS tape.
