Adding pop mail account to Outlook.com

I have tried numerous times to add a pop mail account to my Outlook.com mail following the instructions given, but I just keep getting a message that Outlook is unable to connect to my POP server. It does not give me any details as to what piece of information is incorrect. I tried letting the Outlook.com program find the settings for my pop mail server and I also tried putting the settings in manually. Didn't make any difference.

There was only one piece of information I see that could be the problem because I could not really figure out what it was wanting. It asked for "User Name" - I can only think of two possible answers: 1. My actual pop mail e mail address which it had already requested OR 2. The name I want to display, which would not seem to make any difference in connecting to my server.

This new windows 8 computer is going to drive me to drink. Thank God I still have my old Vista Laptop.

hello! I'm not sure if I'm missing something but I can't figure this out: I want to sync my outlook data across two computers. I am using Office 365 and use outlook to receive my mail from my POP mail account. There are times I am away from home and use a laptop for my computing but I'd like to be able to access the mail on my desktop computer at home: same files/contacts/etc Is there a way to do this with sky drive? Thank you!

POP mailserver password problem in outlook.com

In outlook.com, we are trying to get outlook.com to access a POP mail account.

In Settings: More email settings: Your email Accounts, we have added a Sending and Receiving POP Email Account. We provided the Incoming and Outgoing server info, server address, username and password. We saved these details.

This allowed us to see our new mails on the mailserver as expected. However, any mail that arrives subsequently isn’t visible, requiring us to go back into ‘Edit your account’ page where the mailserver password needs to be entered again as it appears to have changed. When the correct password is entered again new emails become visible, but any subsequent emails require the process to be repeated.

Any suggestions?

Missing Two Weeks of Sent Items

I use Office 2011 for Mac and came in this morning to find the last two weeks worth of sent emails disappeared from my Outlook account. Any idea where to find them? I use a POP mail account.
