I just switched from pc to a new mac pro laptop. I have installed office 2011 for mac. I have previously been using office 2003 with Outlook 2003 gathering email from multiple email accounts . I exported a PST file from Personal Folders in Outlook 2003. I then imported that PST file into Outlook 2001 mac. This only imported emails, and did not import contacts or e-mail account setups. I was okay with that and imported contacts using a separate export of contacts in a text file. I set up the email accounts from scratch in Outlook 2011 mac. My problem is that after I turned on the Account column on the mail item list, the email accounts are not listed for any of the imported email. The Account column is blank for all imported emails. The accounts do show for the new mail that is arriving. Is there any way to get the email accounts displayed in the account column for the imported emails from outlook 2003?
I have seen lots of posts regarding android and iPhone's not playing nicely with Outlook.com, while not great it is understandable that Apple, Google and Microsoft have connectivity/communication hiccups. My problem, however, is not as forgivable. I have my email managed through an Outlook.com account. I can see all the emails on my cell phone (iPhone 4) and on Outlook.com, but not all the emails show up on Outlook (365 - installed on my computer). The pattern of emails not visible on Outlook 365 are those that I read and mark as unread. Most of time, this occurs when I mark them as unread from my phone, but not always. I have removed and reloaded the account on Outlook twice. Each time it loads all the old emails, but it is hit or miss regarding whether it loads a new email that I mark as Unread.
Please help, I would like to help my colleagues get setup on Outlook.com so they can get off Gmail, but I don't feel comfortable helping them make the switch until this bug is fixed.
I am having trouble with viewing my outlook. Just today some things have appeared on the right hand side of the screen and I don't know how to get rid of the. It blocks out part of the date for emails so that I can't tell when they were sent without clicking on them to view. I have taken a screen image of the issue so you can see the problem. I use Fire Fox for my main browser and have windows 2000 service pack 4. It seems every time Microsoft makes so called changes for the "better" it always causes problems. If the stuff at the side can't be removed I may have to use something else for my email

I was switched from hotmail to outlook. When that happened I lost one feature in constructing emails: with hotmail I could hightlight a word/phrase/sentence/paragraph and then move it elsewhere in the email being constructed. With outlook, however, I can't. Any solution to this? I would think that outlook would be designed to improve the experience, not limit it. Thus, I wonder if I'm just missing something here. HELP!!!

Hi
When using WIndows 8 Pro, using Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc)
"System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing"
is set to enabled, Outlook cannot send E-Mails if an Outlook.com account is used.
More of the issue:
"System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing"
is found in
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options
or, by looking at the registry: FIPSAlgorithmPolicy
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SecEdit\Reg Values\MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Lsa/FIPSAlgorithmPolicy/Enabled
which as per description does
This policy setting determines whether the Transport Layer Security/Secure Sockets Layer (TLS/SSL) Security Provider supports only the TLS_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA cipher suite.
Settings:
SMTP Server: smtp.live.com
Port 587
Type of encrypted connection: TLS
In Outlook when testing the account settings, I get:
Send test e-mail message: The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues ´, contact your server administrator or internet service provider (ISP).
In Outlook when sending, I get:
Task '...(at)hotmail.com - Sending reported error (0x800CCC0F) : The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

Which raises the question
Why is it that Outlook.com/Hotmail does NOT have FIPS compliance whereas my other free email provider does?!
How can i add another email address(hotmail user) in my outlook so that we can start a chat room without using MSN.
