Hi,

I am trying to use moviemaker and have recently updated to 8.1. I get two steps into whatever editing i am trying to do and I receive a message that moviemaker has run into a problem and must close. i have read many of the forums, I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, I have updated all my NVidia graphics card drivers (machine is a Lenovo ideacentre). What else can I try? Daughter is giving me grief about getting a Mac Book Pro becaue all her friends are really happy with imovie. I really want this to work!

I have been using MovieMaker 5.1 to film participants for a research project. The last file I made using MovieMaker and a webcam is no longer recognized by MovieMaker when I try to edit it, saying the file is corrupt (error: OxC946002C) . I can view the entire video on VLC and Windows media player, but if I try to fast forward it no longer works. Is there a way to restore it?

I have a legal copy of windows7 which came with my laptop and included Windows Movie Maker. I have used WMM for some time but recently I clicked something for some sort of update or extra feature. WMM now asks me to accept T&C's, something I've never encountered with the original version. As I do not wish to accept T&C's to use something that has been working fine, I now can't use the program at all. Why has Windows stopped me using MovieMaker? Do I have to reset my computer to get it working again?
Hello, I just bought a PC with windows 8. It also came with a CyberLink program to watch DVDs and Mpeg files. I have stored, over the years lots of MPEG 2 files. These MPEG 2 files I can see in CyberLink DVD player, in Windows Media Player but when I add these files to the timeline of the MovieMaker, only the sound works and the video is completely blank (black screen). In XP Home edition, which I had previously, I had the same problem with the MovieMaker: that MovieMaker accepted only AVI files.
Because my old Pinnacle studio 9 with XP Home edition does not work on this new Windows 8 anymore, I cannot convert MPEG2 files to AVI files (as I did before, with Pinnacle Studio 9).
Could anyone help me elucidate this problem?
In the specs of the movie maker is written that it accepts MPEG 2 files. Confusion, then!!!
Thank you.
HI,

Need some help with my MovieMaker, it was working before but all of sudden it stopped working.

I'm using Windows Movie Maker Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3508.0205)

When attempting to publish, I get this error message:

____.mp4 wasn't published successfully

The following problem occurred in your movie: (0x800488E5)

I have reinstalled Movie Maker from Microsoft's website for the Windows Essentials 2012 many times and preformed the repairs and even played with the compatibility mode without any results.

Please help.

Thanks,

Will

Hi - I want to share short videoclips made with moviemaker with others who don't have moviemaker.  What is the best way to do this so that they can open/view them?
Thanks.

My camcorder makes files in Mpeg-2 format. When I import to Moviemaker 2012, I get audio in Preview but no video. Moviemaker is supposed to work with Mpeg-2 files. I can convert the files to Mp4 and they will work in Moviemaker, but this is a laborious roundabout way to get my video clips into a movie. Is there any solution?
I can not open any file with MovieMaker in my PC since I installed Windows Essencials 2012

Windows 7 in my O.S. and Windows Live Essentials Version 16.4.3508.0205 installed this morning.

I was working with Movie Maker in my PC, trying to use it better for my tonight presentation.
So I entered the site and clicked on the Downloading box to upgrade the Windows Essentials 2012. Since it was installed all my MovieMaker Files do not open.
Please, I need an EMERGENCY solution for presenting them still tonight.
Lookiing forward your responsible answer.
