I know that movie maker uses a lot of resources such as "RAM" when publishing or editing a program. I have 8 gigs of DDR3 ram and the program is very limited to 3.5 gigs due to running in 32 bit only.

I know this is the program when I am trying to save my project, and it freezes within a random % because when I do control + shift + esc it never exceeds 3.5 gigs under the performance tab. Also, under the "process" tab. It shows, "Movie Maker *32" which means it is running in 32-bit only.

This is a problem when working on a big project as I am unable to use the use the full performance of my laptop Asus g75vw.

Also, when I googled, "Windows Movie Maker 64-bit client download", I was directed to movie maker official download page where it clearly states under requirements to be compatible with both 32 / 64 bit software.

Please, if there is a way. I would like to know how to start this program in 64 bit so the program have more access to much needed ram.

That is all,

Ryan
Movie Maker will not save the video portion of my projects. I uploaded an AVI as a source, used the edit tool and when I go to "save movie" only the audio gets saved......this happens if I try to save as MP4  or windows  videoformat... any suggestions for a fix?

I can watch the AVI clip within movie maker and play the project, but the save function is not working.

Thanks!

Gary
I used to have windows live movie maker on my windows 7 computer I updated it to movie maker and it was all fine, but in an attempt to get windows live movie maker back I deleted movie maker completely from my computer, including all the folders and files which contained it,then when I tried to get it back, using windows essentials,it installs and just says 'done' but movie maker is not anywhere on my computer,or my downloads or anywhere!i've tried everything and I can't get it back,it's something I need as we'll! Is it because I deleted the folders?help!?
I have Version 12, build 16.4. Windows 7 64-bit ultimate.

I'm experiencing problems when trying to load AVI files into Movie Maker. When I attempt to import the file, it causes Movie Maker to crash. The whole "movie maker has stopped working" message pops up and forces me to close it. This problem does not occur when I import MP4 files, pictures or music. There is no error code whatsoever.

I have the latest codecs (to my knowledge) and my computer is more than powerful enough. Any solutions?
Hey guys,

I always used windows live essentials (movie maker) in windows 7. Just for editing my game videos and then exporting them in MP4. I record them with fraps.
Now that i upgraded to windows 8 and am using windows live essentials, (movie maker), my output file is massive..

Comparison:

Windows 7
27 minutes of HD footage-> published in high definition and mp4 was around 540mb..

windows 8
20 minutes of HD footage-> publishing in hd again (mp4) and its 3.7gb big!

I'm not really getting it..

The settings are the same in high definition: 1920x1080, 29.7fps etc..

HELP!

Hi,

A friend just made and burned a movie with MM6.0 in Vista.  When he viewed the dvd the poles, door frames and other straight verticle lines had a blurred sawtooth effect on them as the camera panned left or right.  When there was no motion everything looked fine.  I guess the question is if the new 720 HD camcorder he used added to much content to the clips for either his 6 year old computer or MM6.0 to handle.  He has an HP running Vista 6.0, Build 6002, SP2.  CPU has AMD Phenom 8400 triple-core 2.10ghz. It is 32 bit with 3 gb RAM.  The easy question is, Is it time to upgrade?

Thanks

I saved my movie in a WMV file.  When I play the movie in Windows Movie Maker, some of the shots are showing in green.  What is going on?  I am using Movie Maker 2012 in Windows 8.
