Emails from an ISP provided email account are not received by any Hotmail or MSN contact.  Problem began 2 or 3 weeks ago - had worked fine for the preceding 5+ years.  Gmail addressees get emails OK - problem only with MS.  No bounce or undeliverable mail messages.  Emails just disappear in a black hole.
My ISP has told me that my settings in my email account for my email address are perfect and that I should contact Microsoft.  I can send email to the ISP's server, but I can receive email from that incoming (for me) server.  (The outgoing mail server is different from the incoming mail server.)  I have no problem receiving email for my gmail account.

Additional info: I just restarted my computer and when I first brought up Windows Live Mail it accessed my ISP's server and downloaded my mail.  I then took it down and tried to access it again and it again gave me the error message that it was waiting for the server to respond and asked if I wanted to wait for 60 seconds to try again or to Stop.

My ISP provideder is Comcast.  Using Windows Mail Live I can receive my mail from ISP, but I can not send mail.  Below is the error I'm getting.  any idea what the problem might be?

The connection to the server has failed.

Subject 'Test 8'
Server: 'smtp.comcast.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): Yes
Socket Error: 10060

I am helping a friend with her computer. She changed her ISP and we set up the new email account in Live Mail and got it working. I deleted her discontinued ISP account from Live Mail. Everything was just fine. Unfortunately, she did a restore to earlier date on her system and it brought back the old mail folders but not the account information in properties. Now when she opens Live Mail she gets a sign-in screen for the old ISP account and she has to cancel before she can continue with her mail. I have looked in the Accounts tab in Mail and there is nothing in there about the old account. Does anyone know how I can solve this? I am hoping that I don't have to go into to registry.
I have five separate accounts - this error message occurs on only one, repeatedlly, and the ISP says it is not on their end ...
Outlook cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that your DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct.  Help ....
Last week, I started to receive delivery failure messages for two of my regular contacts. They use the same ISP. They have contacted their ISP who says it is a problem at the Hotmail end. The failure message says "unable to connect successfully to the destination mail server". This has only just started happening, and there have been no known changes at either end. Why is this happening?
I got this message yesterday, when I was trying to send an e-mail with Windows Live Mail.
My Internet Provider (IP) says that my ISP is ok, as I have been able to send e-mails via my Web Mail

It is also asking me to log on ten telling me I am sending the incorrect password

It is very frustrating, as I sent over 5 hours yesterday with an online help provider, without a good result. They say that it is the ISP address, whild my IP is saying a;ll is fine .... contact Microsoft ..... so here I am

When I try to send an email (or receive) I get a message from my ISP which says they cannot reach a server. I then call the ISP, which is Comcast, and they tell me that if I can reach the internet than they can't help me because my email is Microsoft Live Mail, which they don't maintain. Can any one help me. Thanks.

Hi,

Since the 15/9/13 I have not been able to receive emails on either Outlook or windows mail from my ISP (2 different POP accounts).

Outlook works fine for sending mail and receiving mail to my outlook.com email address.

Checked with my ISP and there is no problem with their end.

I can receive emails to these accounts on my ISP site and on other devices I-pad and phone but not on my laptop.

Many thanks in anticipation.
