Has microsoft sent out emails asking for personal info and stating my account will be cut off unless supplied?

I received email the following email and need to know if it is legimate before sending any of my information:  Dear Account Owner.  VERIFY THIS EMAIL ADDRESS  TO AVOID IMMEDIATE CLOSURE   We have recently confirmed that different computers have logged onto your Hotmail account and multiple password errors have been entered. We are hereby  suspending your account; as it has been used for fraudulent purposes.. Now we need you to reconfirm your account information to us. Click your reply tab, fill in the columns below and send it back to us or your email account will be suspended permanently.'

Just got a suspicious email (below) saying my account needed updating and I had to send some personal info! I flagged it up in my inbox as I thought it wasn’t legit
