What do the colored balls mean?

02. January 2014 · Write a comment · Categories: Outlook for Mac · Tags: account passwords, colored balls, KeyChain Access, Outlook
In the Accounts dilaog box of Outlook 2011, the left-hand pane lists the accounts. To the left of each account is a colored ball, sometimes green, sometimes yellow, and perhaps other colors as well. What do the colors mean?

Note. Like so many others, Outlook frequently asks me for my account passwords, and once a week or so it erases a few of them (as seen in the Accounts dialog box). I have tried all the suggestions I found on the web including deleting and recreating accounts, cleaning up Keychain Access, rebuilding the database and/orcreating a new user, etc. I have friends with the same problems so I suspect the fault is with Outlook and not with my particular setup. The reason for asking about the colored balls is that after the most recent request by Outlook for my account passwords, I noticed that all the balls were colored yellow and that they changed to green after I selected each account (though I made no changes). I thought that knowing the meaning of the colors might suggest an approach for a work-around to this problem until such time as Microsoft publishes an update.

Outlook 2011 constantly requiring me to re-enter passwords(not exchange accounts)

11. October 2013 · Write a comment · Categories: Outlook for Mac · Tags: account passwords, Exchange accounts, internet connection, Outlook
I am using Outlook 2011 on my Mac and I have this constant, annoying issue where if Outlook tries to sync with no internet connection it will make me re-enter all my account passwords. I have scoured the web trying to find a solution to this problem but I can only find answers dealing with exchange accounts. All of my accounts are IMAP and it makes me re-enter the passwords every time even though I have them saved in the keychain and it works properly when I have an active ineternet connection.

First I get the following error:
"Outlook cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that your DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct."

And then the next time I sync with an active connection it makes me re-enter all the passwords. Any ideas? This is driving me nuts! Thanks in advance!

First off I am not getting an email or a txt from this thing. Second it's a moronic idea since I've never once had an issue with my account UNTIL you set this up. Now I can't access any of my potentially vital emails because there was no way to OPT OUT and no way to OPT IN. I am expecting important emails and now have to use my alternative account to contact those respondents. This has been nothing, but a pain and I find it's an invasion of my privacy to ask to call or text my phone. If I wanted you to call me I would have given you the number already! Please, does anyone know how to fix this before I have to delete this account entirely and I've had it for 15 YEARS? Thank you.

Enable password management for my domain in Outlook.com

Hi - I need greater ability to manage account settings/passwords for my users on private domain using Outlook.com

I recently moved my domain from google apps to Outlook.com and am surprised to see that I have NO WAY to set/reset account passwords for my users.

I see other posts where Microsoft moderators are able to turn on that functionality, so would you please do so for me?

My users are currently locked out of their email!

Thanks,

Mike

My domain is graef.org

Mail server blacklisted. Security & passwords upgraded. How do I get the blacklisting reversed?

05. November 2012 · Write a comment · Categories: Hotmail, Outlook.com · Tags: account passwords, blacklisting, company mail server, hotmail, investigation, issue, mail server, Major, problem
  Hi all.

Major problem. My company mail server has been blacklisted by MS Hotmail for spam.

Investigation into the issue turned up outside individuals hacking into the server to use. As such we upgraded security on the server, changed all account passwords, implemented SPF (SecureID) and so-on.
However, this hasn't resolved the problem.

I've checked and the mail serer isn't blacklisted with ANYONE other than MS Hotmail and Yahoo.

And I can't seem to find a direct route to getting the blacklisting reversed - or even just reviewed - by Hotmail / MS themselves!!!

Please - ANYONE - any and all help / guidance / etc. would be so hugely appreciated!!!
