Does Outlook for Mac sync hotmail accounts automatically ?

Does Outlook for Mac sync hotmail accounts automatically so if I read a hotmail  email on the mac it will be shown as read on my iphone ? Currently I use the Apple email program and it DOES NOT sync hotmail but does sync gmail
