MacAir OS 10.8.4         outlook 2011 14.3.5
I am used to move all email from server to local PC, so actually only several newest emails would be left on sever.

I met a crash on outlook yesterday afternoon. When re-open, it showed database error and need re-build. But datatbase utility failed at pass 4 of 5.

After some research on internet, I created a new indetity and copied message source&message fold from main identity to the new identity.  Outlook opened successfully then, but losted all email from Jul.5 to Jul 17.

I tried to link the email in other identity message source folder to the new identity, but still can't find them.

what should I do then?

Any suggestion and help are appreciated!

Hi, how can I delete the list of recent recipients (autofill) ?
Kind Regards, brainbit
My Outlook contacts and calendar don't sync with iCloud.  I've backed up my identity, but when I try to reset my sync services, I have no Library on my Go/Home menu.  What can I do?
Hi,

I am fairly new to Outlook for Mac and one of the most frustrating things for me is while reading a message and I move the message to a folder the message does not actually move until I "red X" out of the message window. PC version moves the message to the folder as soon as you "implement" the move-to-folder operation; there is no need to close the message from reading mode, Outlook does it for you. I go through hundreds of emails a day,so this is a lot of extra clicking. I have searched for a way to try to change this, but so far, have not found anything.

Is there a way to accomplish this?

Many thanks in advance. It is a overloaded, overstretched time at work right now and any little thing that I can make easier would be helpful.

Thanks
The Deleted Items folder only contains 30 days worth of deleted emails. Last week, my boss unexpectedly needed to look for an item he deleted about 6 weeks ago, only to discover that all of his items over 30 days old were gone.

I have researched this extensively and discussed it with my IT support group, but have not been able to find any answers - and I can't figure out how to stop these messages from being automatically deleted after 30 days.

I have Outlook 2011, an iMac running OS X (version 10.8.4), and am connecting to an Exchange 2007 server.

I have checked the Mailing List Manager and Rules (no items listed in either), made sure the Schedule for Empty the Deleted Items Folder is disabled (was never enabled), and changed the policies set in the Exchange server to keep messages in the deleted items folder for 365 days (this was previously set to 14 days, so it did not appear to be having any effect, either before or after it was changed about a week ago).  But still, every day, messages over 30 days old get deleted.  I have also used owa to attempt to recover the deleted items, but they are no longer accessible so I believe they are permanently lost.

I don't think there is any way to recover what has been lost (and I have been advised on setting rules to move things to other folders before they can be deleted), but I would like to know if this setting can be changed in Outlook (since I have changed the relevant settings in Exchange without any effect).

Help!
Thanks!
Hello, I have installed the latest update 14.3.5 yesterday, too late, my bad, should installed it sooner as it solves some security issues, but nowadays end users get flooded with updates and I need to work on my mac sometimes too :)

Anyway: OS X 10.7.5
Details:
marduk:Vidalia nico$ uname -a Darwin marduk.local 11.4.2 Darwin Kernel Version 11.4.2: Thu Aug 23 16:25:48 PDT 2012; root:xnu-1699.32.7~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64
8 GB of RAM
2.9 Ghz Intel Core i7

After installing the 14.3.5 update outlook mac refuses to connect to our Exchange 2010 mailserver, it first shows 'not connected', then tries to establish a connection, but I does not get any further then 'connecting', but the application does not seem to connect as the below netstat shows:

marduk:$ netstat -p tcp
Active Internet connections
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address (state)
tcp4 0 0 192.168.98.103.56349 247.32-78-194.ad.https SYN_SENT tcp4 0 0 192.168.98.103.56248 microsoft.iad.we.http ESTABLISHED

Outlook does not make any tcp/443 request to our mailserver, just nothing, a wireshark capture which I'm not going to post for obvious reasons, does not show anything happening towards our mailserver. I know that uninstalling - reboot - reinstalling will, most likely, fix this issue but I want to troubleshoot this, without going through the hassle (I have a 3 GB mailbox on our Exchange, I had to a complete resync multiple times (I'm not in the office much) so I wasted about 60 GB of data transfer meanwhile due to various problems with 14.3.2 where the only solution was when this 'connecting … and never connected' issue appears.

Luckily as I'm installing exchange mailserver as of NT4, I'm in the position to troubleshoot the windows 2008 R2 server, Exchange 2010 (all updates, service packs etc installed)

I have checked application and system log on the server, and nothing is pointing to the Exchange mailserver, nice and tidy logs, no issue whatsoever.

Back to the client side, in my /var/log/system.log I have one entry, that refers to Office Mac:

Jul 17 21:47:45 marduk [0x0-0x107107].com.microsoft.Outlook[5553]: objc[5553]: Class OnClickLinkAction is implemented in both /Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Microsoft Outlook.app/Contents/MacOS/../../../Office/OutlookLegacy.framework/Versions/14/OutlookLegacy and /Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Microsoft Outlook.app/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft Outlook. One of the two will be used. Which one is undefined.

But I don't think it's related, correct me if I'm wrong.

Standard logging (Window - Error log) does not show anything, after activating debug logs, followed by restarting outlook to generate logs, but even then: nothing, no errors.

I think this is my first post on a public forum, I'm reluctant to open a PSS ticket for this (as most likely the result will be: reinstall) But I'm a bit fed up with the Microsoft triple R solution: Repair Reboot Reinstall, and the option Repair is not possible (manual download of this update shows that my current product is not fit for installation (most likely because the update is already installed)

I can produce about whatever sort of logs, up to to deep analysis to reverse engineering to identify whatever system call, memory region etc etc etc, but that's one **** of a job, I paid nicely for this license which isn't exactly cheap and feel victimized by this vendor lockin, there is no alternative client with the same functionality (webdav / caldav is not supported) so per monopoly/patent war, I have to use outlook.

So experts, give me you best shot. You guys have the source, I don't.

You already lost me for the Windows client OS (gave up after Vista which costed me yet another 1500 Euro, the Vista capable story, replace laptop with a 'real' vista capable machine, sucked even more), bought my first macbook then, I like open source software but once again monopoly/patent war and business use, prevented me to continue using Debian as business environment.

As a company, we have spoonfed Microsoft with several hundreds of thousand Euros. Finally, Office 2011 on mac is a resource hog, I can see my battery capacity going downhill as soon as I use anything (40% cpu load for an email client, come on)

Edit 5 minutes after my post:  I properly formatted the above, but for some reason (safari as browser) the wysiwig thrashed the format  :(  *sigh* and I had to reformat the above again.
In Accounts>Advanced>Security>

I am able to select my certificate to digitally sign email but on the same screen i cannot select the same certificate under the 'Encryption' heading. The 'Choose A Certificate' dropdown is greyed out. Additionally On Certificate Authentication option - i see only two com.apple.idms.... certificates but not mine.

I've copied my certificate into Microsoft_Entity_Certificates and Microsoft_Intermediate_Certificates in keychain - but this has had no effect.

I can however work fine in Apple Mail - sending digitally signed and encrypted emails without any problem.
When I log into Outlook For Mac I get an error that says, "Microsoft Outlook must be closed because an error occured. Any unused work not saved will be lost." I have rebooted, restarted etc but am still getting the error. Any ideas?
